Hays are recruiting for a Payroll Team Leader for a permanent role based in Doncaster. This role is immediate start subject to interview, with key responsibilities including all staff receive monthly payslips, all end of year processes are complete, and all payments are sent to HMRC in a timely manor.
Your new role
As the Payroll Team Lead, you will be responsible for the monthly payroll oversight and direct management of 2 Payroll Administrators. Your duties will include ensuring accurate calculation and balancing of all payroll components from gross to net, including pay items and deductions.
You will also oversee pay adjustments in accordance with the National Minimum Wage (NMW), Construction Industry Joint Council Working Rule Agreement (CIJC WRA), and annual salary reviews. Compliance is key, and you must ensure timely submissions of Full Payment Submissions (FPS), Employer Payment Summaries (EPS), and P46 Car details to HMRC to prevent penalties.
You will be tasked with creating and updating pay items in the payroll system, managing NMW and Gender Pay Reporting, and addressing complex pay, tax, and benefit inquiries. Additionally, you will handle all Salary Sacrifice Schemes, maintain GDPR compliance for all records, and lead payroll audits for both payroll and pensions.
Your role involves managing the governance of payroll activities, serving as an expert on PAYE, NI, pensions, and related government legislation.
What you'll need to succeed
Leadership in Payroll: Proven lead role experience with within a payroll team and a strong track record in handling internal queries.
Communication & Flexibility: Exceptional communication abilities, adept at influencing and flexible enough to work effectively across all organizational levels.
Relationship Building & Decision-Making: Skilled in forging stakeholder relationships and equipped with robust independent decision-making capabilities.
Efficiency & Precision: Ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic, high-pressure environment while maintaining utmost accuracy and attention to detail.
Integrity & Knowledge: Unwavering integrity in managing confidential data, with a preference for knowledge of CIJC Working Rule Agreement and Microsoft Office Suite.
