Responsibilities Management Support To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of legislation and regulatory developments and provide pragmatic advice to St Margarets Hospice Managers with regard to employment legislation, pay and conditions of service, discipline and grievance issues, sickness and absenteeism, general staffing issues, recruitment and retention. To develop and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of staff, managers and any other relevant organisations. Ensure best practice, consistency, shared learning and ideas for continuous improvement from a HR perspective within the HR team and across the organisation. To provide reports and give presentations as required. Lead and/or work with HR colleagues or managers on projects designed to improve Services. Participate in operational meetings and project groups, using positive influence to ensure contemporary practice across the Organisation. To maintain active contact with Network Groups to share and promote best practice. Promote health and wellbeing in the workplace. Employee Relations Advise Hospice managers on current Human Resources policies, employment legislation and practice. Manage individual cases, including probationary, grievance, disciplinary, capability and absence cases towards satisfactory conclusion providing ongoing support to managers. To monitor and oversee long term ill health cases maintaining contact with individual members of staff if required, liaising with Occupational Health Service and advising managers on the most appropriate use of the Sickness Absence policy and procedures. To take a lead role in managing short term illness and stress related absences where this is significant. Provide advice and support on change management processes. General HR Supporting colleagues in responding to queries and resolving them, escalating more complex matters to the Senior HR Advisor where necessary. Contribute towards the development of HR policies and procedures and the HR function to ensure reflection of current best practice, legislation and allow St Margarets aims and objectives to be achieved. To be a role model of good practice. Actioning paperwork for contractual changes, including variation to contract and payroll changes forms. Communication and People Skills Diplomacy, discretion and tact are essential as the post holder is regularly required to communicate confidential and often complex information across the organisation, professional relationships which include the Chief Executive, Directors and Medical professionals. It is important to be able to exercise judgement as to the urgency of a situation and a vital expectation of the post is to uphold confidentiality at all times.
