The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others.

The ANM provides and directs care for patients generally ranging in age from 17 through the geriatric years, taking into consideration diagnoses and physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural needs.

The ANM is responsible for managing registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants and medical support assistants that fall under his/her/their purview; additional responsibilities of the ANM include, but are not limited to, Acting as Nurse Manager in the absent of the Nurse Manager, timely submittal of staff proficiencies and performance appraisals, post staff schedules according to rules and regulations, employee leave management, staffing coverage support, and other responsibilities as assigned.

The ANM assists in the coordination of patient admissions, discharges and transfers within or out of the facility in coordination with the NOD.

Full-time hours, days, Mon-Fri.

• Develops work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions as necessary.
• Educating the community on VA health care services and benefits, increasing enrollment, and improving patient care coordination. The Program Manager may initiate outreach opportunities to engage in collaborative partnerships with other federal, state, and local agencies and departments.
• Developing and maintaining effective partnerships throughout the facility and satellite clinics, including Primary Care, Veteran Readjustment Centers, Specialty Care Clinics, Facility Patient Advocates, VBA, PVA, and the Business Office to ensure access and a unified approach for providing continuity of care.
• Demonstrates the ability to teach and mentor staff and students in the special area of practice and to provide supervision for licensure or specialty certifications.
• Reviews and approves or disapproves leave and premium pay requests. S/he assures that subordinates are trained and fully comply with the provisions of the safety regulations.
• Other Duties as assigned.

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
