An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated pharmacy technician to join the cardiac team at Barts Heart Centre.

You will have the opportunity to develop your medicines management skills, working closely with medical and nursing staff on a wide range of medicines management matters tooptimisemedicines use across the site.

With the implementation of ward based dispensaries for all wards and a pre-admission drug history service, you will assist the team in further developing the continued expansion of the service and implementing initiatives in line with the Carter review.

This is a 6 month fixed term role based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, working 37.5hours per week including 1 in 5 weekends.

This will include the assessment of patient’s own drugs, conducting medicines reconciliation, counselling patients about their medicines and coordinating the supply of discharge medication.

The role will also involve the training and supervision of junior team members and dispensary based responsibilities.

This 9 to 5 role will have a special emphasis around improving access, flow and discharged from the West London Crisis Recovery House (WLCRH). The post entails taking responsibility for assessment and management of service users experiencing a crisis that may, without CAHTT intervention require a hospital admission. These referrals will be coming from a variety of sources (LPS, Inpatient Wards, Community Teams and other CAHT Teams & SPA). You will be dealing with these referrals that have very specific response times and liaising with relevant professionals. You will also have significant managerial & operational responsibility day to day.

CAHTT is a multidisciplinary team. We work closely with Inpatient Services, SPA, MINT, Early Intervention, Social Services, the Police, Statutory and Voluntary agencies. This would be a really exciting time to join the team as the function of the team is changing and the Band 7 Senior Crisis Care Practitioner role is key to these changes.

Regular monthly supervision and reflective practice will be provided. As a Senior Practitioner within the team you will be working shift work 37.5 Hours a week. The post holder should have a variety of significant experience and previous community experience would be ideal.

Balfour Beatty are looking for a Senior Health and Safety Advisor to join our Major Projects Team on the Old Oak Common Project in London.

HS2’s station construction partner, Balfour Beatty VINCI Systra joint venture (BBVS) are leading the construction of HS2’s new Old Oak Common Station. Set to be the best connected and largest new railway stations ever built in the UK, Old Oak Common will become one of the country’s most vital transport super hubs. The station will have 14 platforms, a mix of six high speed and eight conventional service platforms, with an 850m-long station box. It is expected to be one of the busiest railway stations in the country with high speed rail services to the midlands, Scotland and the North and access to central London and Heathrow via the Crossrail Elizabeth Line.

The Senior Health and Safety Advisor will provide risk-based assurance that the project is compliant with all HSES requirements and provide expert HSES technical advice, guidance, and support.

What you'll be doing

• Implement Business Unit strategy through visible leadership to drive the delivery of Safe at Heart.

Participate in educational and training programmes for junior nursing staff and students, including acting as a preceptor / mentor where required. Supervise staff to ensure that high standards of nursing care are delivered. Be able to work independently as an expert practitioner in all areas of the Emergency Department. DEPARTMENTAL MANAGEMENT The post holder is part of a team with responsibility for the management of the Emergency Department on a shift basis. The overarching management of the nursing workforce and department is co-ordinated by the Lead Nurse / Matron in the Emergency Department. He/she will regularly take charge during his/her span of duty and will have undertaken responsibilities for aspects of the running and organisation of the department as directed by the Matron. They will also be expected to deputise for the Matron as required. The Nurse in Charge ensures: Available staff on the shift are deployed appropriately to meet changing demands. Patient flows are managed effectively in accordance with the Department of Health, ED Clinical Quality Indicators. That the activity of nursing, medical and other staff is guided to ensure the rapid assessment, treatment and disposal of patients. Staff are adequately supervised, supported and coached. That delegated responsibilities for staff appraisal and development are carried out. More junior staff are kept informed of developments. Staff are debriefed after stressful or critical incidents. Stock levels are checked and re-ordered to appropriate levels. Good relationships with other departments and outside agencies are maintained. Sickness is reported in accordance with Trust procedures. Staff discipline is maintained during the shift. Documentation is fully and properly completed. All required information is fully recorded on the clinical information system/notes. • Independently manage a group of patients within the specialty whilst working as part of the multidisciplinary team, delivering individualised and personalised direct patient care.
• Demonstrate appropriate practice and specialist advice in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. This includes history taking, physical examination and the requesting of agreed diagnostic procedures/clinical investigations.
• Responsible for the correct administration of prescribed medication including transfusion of blood and blood products.
• Be responsible for assessing and recognising emergencies in the speciality. To interpret information and take appropriate action and to lead others to do the same.
• Ensure that patients’ receive high quality clinical care and a good patient experience, having regard for their customs, religious beliefs and doctrines.
• To provide leadership, support and guidance to staff in monitoring the planning delivery and evaluation of individualised care.
• Is wholly accountable for his / her practice in line with the NMC code of professional conduct and takes every reasonable opportunity to sustain and improve his / her knowledge and professional competence.
• Ensure safe and effective care for complex patients requiring advance clinical skills and responsible for carrying out specialist nursing procedures to area.
• Ensure that sensitive patient records are stored appropriately.
• Ensure staff take precautions to minimise the risk of cross infection in relation to the safe disposal of body fluids (including blood).
• To be an effective communicator with patients/carers/families regarding disease treatment and management.
• Facilitate a high quality, cost effective specialist service through monitoring and audit and other quality initiatives agreed by the Trust.
• Identify and intervene where circumstances contribute to an unsafe environment for patients and staff. To bring instances to the attention of the Sister/Charge Nurse for the area.
• Ensure that the learning environment and specialist training is appropriate for both pre and post registration learners and participate in the development of appropriate programmes.
• Contribute in the Trust’s clinical supervision programme for staff.
• To assist the Sister/Charge Nurse in developing a culture that is challenging, stimulating, rewarding and supportive.
• To act as mentor/assessor to unqualified staff and to provide education, advice and support to a team of nurses.
• Utilise research findings in the delivery of specialist patient care, developing new ways of working and to disseminate relevant information to staff.
• Provide a leadership role model and demonstrate specialist knowledge and high standards of clinical practice and provide support or advice when necessary.
• Maintain accurate records of the clinical service and ensuring that confidentiality of information is adhered to.
• Organise own work and manage own caseload and practice, identifying and maintaining supportive networks for self and other staff members.
• Take an active role in risk assessment, supporting implementation of strategies to minimise risk. Ensuring incidents and near misses are reported, through promoting a no blame culture.
• To create an environment that fosters good communication between patient and health care professionals, that meets individual’s needs.
