This is a 12 month fixed term post, with the option of further extension. The Trust are exploring the opportunity for these post holders to join the North-West London CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) Programme.

Daily activity will include consultant led ward rounds on the Cardiology patients and supervision of the junior team. The post holder will be supported by FY1 and IMT Trainees and will have direct consultant level support.

The post holder will have responsibility for ward inpatients and, as such, will be expected to attend board rounds, ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings. He/she will help supervise the ward juniors, help manage the inpatients and help coordinate their discharge planning. The post holder will participate in audit and governance activities of the ward and help deliver teaching and training to junior colleagues, medical students and physician associates.

The post holder will also support the management of patients in the virtual ward and other associated duties.

will be an integral part of the general obstetrics and gynaecology team with cross site
working at Ealing and Northwick Park Hospitals as part of the senior middle grade
rota.
Following the closure of the maternity unit at Ealing the obstetric workload is based
at Northwick Park. This consists of mostly high risk patients with diverse medical
conditions. Currently there are 6000 bookings with an annual delivery rate of
approximately 5000 deliveries at the NP site. There are specialised clinics for
diabetes, maternal medicine, haematological conditions and multiple pregnancy. The
labour ward has 98 hours consultant presence and further on call cover. This is
separate from the gynaecology consultant cover. Ante natal clinics are at Northwick
Park and Central Middlesex. There is a high risk delivery suite with dedicated
theatres, HDU, triage, observation bay and recovery unit. There is also midwifery
led ward for low risk women and those wishing to have a water birth.
The emergency gynaecology workload has increased with the reconfiguration of

There is a level 2 Neonatal Intensive Care unit. Gynaecology in patient and theatre
facilities are located within the main hospital. Both hospitals have comprehensive
imaging facilities including CT and MRI suites.
There is a committed educational department with weekly SHO tutorials, MDT's,
weekly oncology MDT's, weekly emergency gynaecology MDT.

Trust SHO – Emergency Department

We are recruiting into a Trust SHO post in Emergency Medicine in support of the Trust’s strategy to develop and support emergency services appropriate to a busy local acute hospital, with a comprehensive range of medical and surgical services.

We are looking for junior doctors who want to work in an evolving emergency dept. and be part of an evolving team, and support and implementing the changes which will take the service forward. This is a full time post but applicants wishing to job share are welcome.

The Trust SHO will be responsible for the immediate assessment and management of patients attending the Department, including the initial investigation, treatment and subsequent discharge or referral to specialist teams. This will be under the supervision of the duty ED consultants who currently provide a clinical presence for 08.00-00.00 Weekdays & 08.30-00.00 Weekends and the speciality doctors and specialist registrars who provide cover on a 24-7 basis.

The SHO is responsible for effective communication with the on-call specialist teams and GPs based within the Community. In the event of a Major Incident the ED SHOs remain in the hospital and provide urgent medical treatment for casualties within the Emergency Department.

Ordering, distribution and trouble-shooting of stock, including company liaison; safe transfer of patients, ensuring privacy and dignity; assisting with the cleaning and provision of equipment; removal of theatre rubbish; delivery of items; offering support in the Pt Reception; providing AL cover for housekeeper; and fulfilling extensive duties surrounding the management of our outsourced scope and instrumentation decontamination program.

Previous experience is desirable but not essential - training is provided. Shifts are 10 hrs in length, and start at either 0700, 0730 or 1000 hrs. They cover a 6-day period, including Saturdays.

• • To contribute to the delivery of care and treatment of the patient whilst in the operating theatre by upholding patient safety, well-being, privacy, dignity and confidentiality at all times.
• To work as rostered/allocated full-time hours, over a 6-day working period, that includes Saturdays. Potential for Sunday working in the future, if required.
• Under the supervision of a Registered Theatre Practitioner, provide clinical skills during routine elective as well as emergency setting within the remit of the role.
• To respond and assist the Registered Theatre Practitioner in attending emergency and urgent procedures in ITU and other units that may include Bronchoscopy and Tracheostomy.
• Participate in the safety check of all emergency trolley in different units; making sure it is correctly stocked, and items/sets have not expired.
• Maintain standards of Infection Prevention and Control measures by observing the Trust Infection Prevention and Control Policy.
• Prepare the Operating Theatre for scheduled operations, ensuring all equipment is in full working order and the room arranged in accordance to the procedures for the day.
• Actively participate in the Instrument, Swab and Sharps counts; documenting and signing the count sheet with the Scrub Practitioner in accordance with the Trust Policy and be involved in the investigations of discrepancies.
• Provide a high standard of clinical care to different care settings within the scope of the role.
• Pro-active in taking responsibility in managing own workload with minimal support and direction.
• Maintain and develop clinical competence through Continual Professional Development, service specific training, peer supervision, reflective practice and clinical supervision.

• Responsible for the maintenance of optimum patient-centred care through reflective and evidence-based practice and active participation in Clinical Governance.
• Receive and label specimens received from the scrub practitioner aseptically; prepare the required specimen forms to be completed by the Operating Surgeon.
• Liaise effectively and work collaboratively with colleagues, healthcare staff across the Trust and appropriate contacts in other organization.
• Participate in team meetings, team development, and service improvement as required.
• Manage the Endoscopy Suite; maintaining that correct stock of scopes is available for the day; and report faults to the relevant department.
• Support and assist in the supervision, assessment and mentoring of Junior Theatre Support Practitioners and other unregistered staff; assist in the supervision and learning of other students with the exception of their assessment.
• Report Incidents and risk according to Trust policies and procedures and be involved in the investigation as required.
• Collect blood and blood products from Haematology; responsible for checking, signing and safe storage in the blood fridge.
• Maintain accurate recording of patient care electronically and maintain confidentiality and security of patient information according to the Data Protection Act.
• Act as an excellent role model by practicing in a safe and effective manner at all times. This will include recognising and either directly challenging or seeking support to challenge any poor practice observed.
• Transport specimens to the Pathology Laboratory safely including frozen sections during procedures.
• Responsible for the receipt, storage and distribution of sterile packs delivered by the sterile contractor, monitoring their use while on Trust premises and preparing the used instruments for collection by the Sterile Services Contractor. Recording and reporting anomalies in the manner prescribed in the Decontamination Services Agreement.
• Dispose of clinical waste safely and appropriately in line with Trust policy.
• Deal safely and effectively, in accordance with Trust policy, with exposure to hazards and highly unpleasant working conditions and contact with body fluids using Incident Reporting system to report any incidents or near misses.
• Follow the Local and Organizational Trust Policies and procedures and comply with the use of the WHO documentation.
• Demonstrate appropriate knowledge and skills in relation to the procedures being undertaken.

Hillingdon Community Services (secondment opportunity ending 31.05.2025)

Due to a planned short-term change to the clinical service manager arrangements an exciting opportunity has arisen to apply for a 12-month secondment as Clinical Services Manager – June 2024 to May 2025.

This role will be within Hillingdon Community Services and will support the Head of Adult Services in developing and delivering community services across the Hillingdon system. The portfolio will consist of HICU; Specialist Nursing (Cardiac, PD, Epilepsy and TB); Podiatry; Diabetes and the Bladder and Bowel Services. You will need to be able to deputise for the Head of Adult Services and be able to confidently manage across a number of different services and disciplines.

The successful post-holder will be able to step in to the role at short notice to support the services operationally, therefore applicants must have support from their current line manager to apply. The successful candidate will need to start in role from 03 June 2024.

The Clinical Service Manager will be expected to deputise and support the Head of Adult Services in the development, delivery and redesign of community services, ensuring high quality and personalised and accessible services to users. The post holder will be required to manage the delivery of specified clinical services within the Adult Services division and for implementing and managing systems and processes to ensure that these services are delivered in accordance with Trust-wide policies and national/local targets.

As the professional nursing lead for Adult Services, the post holder will be expected to work closely with the Head of Adult Services and Community Services Director in providing clear nursing professional leadership, practice and expertise across adult services ensuring that practice is aligned to professional codes of practice across the specialties. The post holder will be expected to engage and empower clinical staff in the provision and management of their services and to use clinical expertise to assess, develop and enhance the quality of service.
