UHBW is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and clinically focussed individual as a Consultant in Emergency Medicine. The appointee will join the existing dynamic consultant team comprising 22 substantive post holders who are committed to improving and advancing the quality of Emergency Care and training available locally and nationally. Initially this post is fixed term as the locum, is to support the departmental service provision. However, there is ongoing work to support substantive recruitment over the next year. Ideally, the post holder would start in January 2025.

The successful candidate will join a team of senior medical and nursing staff committed to expanding the Emergency Service to the people of South, West and Northwest Bristol. The common aim will be to deliver the highest quality of Emergency Care to patients whilst developing the department in all aspects of emergency clinical service, training and research. Close teamwork between senior medical, nursing and management staff is an essential requirement of this appointment. The Emergency Department receives in excess of 200 patients per day, incorporating a significant proportion of presentations reflecting it’s inner-city location. The successful candidates will be expected to work alongside established consultant colleagues to provide shop floor presence 08.00-00:00 seven days per week. Applicants should have a CCT or equivalent in Emergency Medicine or be within two months of achieving this at the date of interview, or be listed on the GMC’s specialist register.

The appointee will be responsible for diagnosis and emergency treatment of patients presenting to the adult Emergency Department. They will also have clinical responsibilities within the ED Observation Unit and possibly ED SDEC. The AMU accepts direct GP referrals to the in-patient medical teams which may also be admitted through the SDEC. However, any patient who requires resuscitation is bought to the resuscitation room in the ED.

SABR & IGRT Therapeutic Radiographer

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated therapeutic radiographer who is looking for a opportunity to join the Team at Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be providing a medicines management service to patients within the prison with the professional support of a prison service pharmacist. You will administer medicines to patients against a valid prescription, ensuring this is taken correctly, provide advice to patients about the appropriate use of medicines and promote healthy lifestyles to aid their rehabilitation.

You will dispense prescriptions and stock items, whilst supervising assistants when in the dispensary. There will also be elements of stock control involved in your role, such as undertaking stock top-up services and reviewing expiry dates and storage facilities for all medicines, reporting any deficiencies to the prison service pharmacist.

• To provide a Medicines Management service to the allocated prison(s) on a weekly basis with the professional support of a prison services pharmacist
• To oversee the ordering/supply of repeat prescriptions
• To supervise assistants, when in the dispensary in providing dispensing services for all the prisons
• To dispense prescriptions and stock items when in the dispensary
• To work towards accreditation as a checking technician and/or medicines administration to provide final dispensing checks and medicines administration services, if not already achieved
• To ensure high standards of work in the dispensary and when out on prison visits and to ensure all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are read and adhered to.
• To manage own workload when providing medicines management services.
• To provide weekly clinical visits to the allocated prison(s), under the professional supervision of a pharmacist. On these visits the post-holder will:• undertake a stock top-up service for all areas in which medicines are stored.
• review the expiry dates and storage facilities for all such medicines and report any deficiencies to the prison service pharmacist for that prison
• assist the prison service pharmacist to provide advice to prisoners and staff about the appropriate use of medicines
• undertake 3-monthly controlled drugs stock checks and report any issues to the prison service pharmacist for that prison
• Promote healthy lifestyles for offenders in line with local and national guidelines or promotions.
• Administer medicines to offenders against a valid prescription on the house blocks
• To demonstrate on-going continual professional development (CPD) and be responsible for self-development and learning within the field of pharmacy or other specialty where appropriate.
• To participate in clinical and departmental audits as required.

We would like to invite interested applicants to apply for the post of clinical fellow working within the Paediatric Critical Care Service within Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.

Bristol Children’s PICU is a 18 bedded unit providing full intensive care services to the Southwest of England and cardiac surgical services to the Southwest and South Wales. BRHC is a designated paediatric trauma and burns centre with all specialties other than transplantation on site.

The post would involve clinical duties on PICU as well as possibly in paediatric high dependency and the regional transport service.

Applicants must have completed a minimum of two years training in their base specialty and may come from a Paediatric, Anaesthetic, Intensive Care or an Emergency Medicine background. This post is also suitable for more senior doctors who wish paediatric intensive care or transport experience.
