This is an exciting opportunity to work in the Clinical Immunology department at Addenbrooke’s.

Clinical duties will be to provide, with colleagues, a service toCambridge University Hospitals (CUH), with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the department. To include the follow (with appropriate supervision):

(a) Participation in Immunology outpatient clinics.

(b) Participation in multidisciplinary meetings.

(c) Reviewing inpatients requiring an Immunology opinion or already known to the Immunology service.

(d) Liaison with colleagues including nursing staff, medical, pharmacy and support staff.

(e) Administrative duties including prescription of immunoglobulin.

(f) Appropriate handover of patients, where applicable.

The service has a large cohort of patients with primary and secondary immune deficiency, with approximately 450 patients on immunoglobulin replacement therapy and approximately 800 patients under long-term follow up. Patients with immune deficiency often suffer multiple comorbidities, particularly affecting the respiratory system or gastrointestinal tract, and are prone to severe (and often difficult to treat) recurrent infections. To address these challenges the Clinical Immunology team work closely with colleagues in other departments who have a special interest in immunodeficiency and run joint clinics with colleagues in Respiratory Medicine and Infectious Diseases. A specialist Hereditary Angioedema clinic is run in conjunction with the Allergy Department and Paediatric Immunology.

The department has close links with the University of Cambridge and is involved in a number of research studies. The service is Quality in Primary Immunodeficiency Services (QPIDS) accredited.

The clinical service works closely with the diagnostic Immunology laboratory based at Addenbrooke’s hospital which provides a comprehensive regional and supraregional service to aid in the diagnosis of diseases of the immune system.

The Emergency Department (ED) at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the biggest in the region seeing over 130,000 patients a year. The hospital is the Major Trauma Centre for the East of England region covering a wide geographical population and 12 other District hospitals.

There is access to all hospital specialties and all investigative facilities including Ultrasound within the ED. There is extended supervision and training with Consultant presence from 08:00-03:00 and 24/7 Senior Trainee shop-floor presence.

The successful applicant will be treated like all other Trainees within the Emergency Department. They will be assigned an Educational Supervisor and will be able to attend the monthly departmental teaching program. Experience gained in these posts could be counted in future towards training applications through the CESR-CP pathway.

This post of Consultant Neurodevelopmental /Neurodisability Paediatrician has become available within the Trust’s Cambridgeshire Community Paediatric services. This post would suit either an experienced Paediatrician looking for a change or a newly qualified consultant who is looking to improve the outcomes for children within a community setting.

The post holder will be part of a team of experienced Community Paediatricians providing a wide range of services to children in the community. The post holder will be expected to have experience and training in the assessment and management of Neurodevelopmental/Neurodisability disorders within an MDT assessment team.

The applicant will be required to support the safeguarding rota in whom child abuse and neglect has been suspected. All Consultants take part in the ‘’On Call’’ daytime advice and assessment service for Safeguarding.

At the present time there are no out of hours or weekend work commitments.

The Job plan includes 8 PAs Direct Clinical Activity (DCC) and Supporting Clinical Activity (SCC)

2 PAs Supporting Professional Activity (SPA), with extra SPA time available for specific responsibilities.

The post covers all of Cambridgeshire but is principally to support services in the north of the county.

Administration support is provided within the service. Clinical work is also delivered in some special educational schools.

Assessment and management of complex physical disability.

The post holder would be expected to have a good working knowledge of tonal management and complex care management including epilepsy, they would ideally support the outreach epilepsy service in special schools. There is a local Botulinum service in conjunction with Cambridge United Hospitals (CUH) and there would be opportunities to support this service.

Provide healthcare to children up to 19 years of age in a local SEND school this includes medical advice to children related to their disability, multi-disciplinary assessment and management of children with complex physical disability. This would include supporting transition plans for children within that provision and safeguarding support. This may include supporting advanced care plans and end of life support with other agencies.

Contribute to regional Safeguarding rota providing medical assessment for children with non-acute safeguarding concerns. Support referral meetings – consultant led.

Support teaching and training of medical students, Community and Neuro-disability trainees, educational and clinical supervision. Ongoing contribution to service development and service evaluation and improvement

There are approximately 5700 deliveries annually and we aim to strengthen the provision of Fetal Medicine services and high risk pregnancy care within our Maternity Service.



You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and sub-speciality training in Materno-Fetal Medicine or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. The successful candidates will work within a team of 16 Obstetricians and 17.5 Gynaecologists, and will participate in the out of hour’s services in Obstetrics only in a non-resident on-call rota. They will be expected to deliver antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care to the highest standards and contribute to consultant Delivery Unit cover ’hot days’ and a 1:15 on-call rota.

This post is designed to meet the increasing demands on our Fetal Medicine Service and to support the Obstetric Service in meeting national recommendations.

We also expect the appointee to participate in MDT training and have experience in managing women with complex medical conditions, in line with our status as a regional Maternal Medicine Network Hub for the Eastern region.

There is opportunity for candidates to develop areas specific to their Obstetric and Fetal Medicine areas of interest. We are the regional unit for abnormally invasive placenta and women are usually seen initially in the Fetal Medicine Unit for diagnosis.

The appointees will be expected to participate in both undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and training within the Rosie Maternity Hospital.

Applications are invited for a Senior Clinical Fellow (ST6+/Post CCT) in Ophthalmology (Vitreoretinal Surgery) to commence 06 January 2025 for 12 months.

The Vitreoretinal Service deals with the full range of vitreoretinal conditions including provision of the National Stickler Syndrome Service led by Mr Martin Snead. The post-holder’s timetable will include vitreoretinal clinics and surgical sessions. Previous vitreoretinal experience is not essential as training will be consultant-supervised from the outset.

The medical retina and vitreoretinal services are supported by a dedicated ophthalmic imaging suite which provides retinal photography, OCT imaging, fluorescein and ICG angiography and B-scan ultrasonography.

It is expected that the post-holder will contribute to the general emergency eye service (currently 1 in 6, second on-call rota).
