Who are we?
The NIHR funds, enables and delivers world-leading health and social care research that improves people's health and wellbeing and promotes economic growth. Our research helps turn discoveries into new or improved treatments, diagnostics, medical technologies and services. This role is based in our Southampton centre which is hosted by the School of Healthcare, Enterprise and Innovation (HEI).
What will you be doing?
This is a varied role and you will collaborate closely with other finance colleagues to deliver and efficient and high-quality finance services. Your key responsibilities will include:
Supporting Senior Finance managers to produce monthly management accounts
Assist in the setting of annual and quarterly budgets
Contribute to implementing and maintaining a system for managing staff costs
Use your specialist knowledge to provide advice and guidance to colleagues.
Who are we looking for?
You will be a qualified accountant or a finalist with a track record of passing exams. You’ll excel in working with stakeholders at all levels and be able to effectively convey financial information to a varied audience. Some key skills we are looking for include:
Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise own workload to meet these
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders
Confidence in giving advice relating to financial matters and procedures, with the ability to translate this for a non-technical audience.
Pro-active approach to work, with a desire to improve processes and able to use your own initiative to problem solve.
Able to work well as part of a team
