We are seeking a pro-active, detail-focused person with a background in engineering to join our client in a varied Operations Coordinator role. This is a position that requires a ‘can do’ adaptable, flexible nature, quick thinking and good administrative and IT skills.
Our client is based just outside Bury St Edmunds. This is a full-time, permanent role based at their manufacturing facility from 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday. The annual salary information is available on request. Interested candidates will also require their own vehicle to reach the company’s premises, as it is inaccessible via public transport.

The Company
Our client is a well-established manufacturing engineering business, who design, manufacture, supply and service high quality air compressors and components for a variety of industries and companies. Established over 20 years ago, the company can offer a stable and friendly working environment and the opportunity to learn on the job and develop new skills. They have a long-serving small team who are professional, friendly, and hard working.
The Role
This brand-new position has been created to support the operations of the business, working under both the Operations Director and Production Manager and alongside the Stores Coordinator. It is a super varied job, where training will be given to the right person to help them feel confident and be competent in the different aspects the role.
Duties will involve:
Raise the appropriate documentation for the manufacture of new units.
Issue up-to-date bills of materials to the Stores Department for kitting of parts.
Raise purchase orders and liaise with suppliers to procure parts required for the Production process.
Liaise with the Production Engineers to assist with quality issues and build schedules.
Create manual packs and upload to website for customer access
Ensure all build files have certifications, build information and build pictures.
Carry out final quality checks on completed unit builds, liaise with Production Engineers for any required rework.
Support the Production Manager with upkeep of COSHH, Health & Safety and Risk Assessment records.
During busy times and during annual leave, support the Operations Director by processing parts orders including quotation, acknowledgement of customer purchase orders, raising of documentation and invoice.
Liaise with the Stores Department for timely despatch of parts orders.
Support the Stores Coordinator at busy times and during annual leave by receiving goods-in, checking deliveries, booking them in, putting them away in the Stores or issuing to the relevant department.
Receive documentation from Sales and Service Departments and pack and despatch spares parts, service kits and units as required.
Raise purchase orders as required to replenish stock levels.
Support the team in implementing small to large projects within the company to improve Quality, Health and Safety, Environmental and Efficiency.
Alongside the rest of the team, answer the phone, deal with enquiries and be a helpful and professional presence in the business.
Requirements
A pro-active nature is essential, along with an amazing eye for detail
A calm and capable multi-tasker
Good administrative skills and professional communicator with good spelling and grammar abilities
Enjoys variety and working on different tasks and learning about different things
Confident and professional enough to talk to customers and suppliers
Highly organised and IT Literate
A background in Engineering, whether it be a qualification, from experience gained in past/current job roles, or from pursuing an engineering-related hobby
Excellent communication skills
Great team working abilities
A polite, friendly and professional person with a good attitude
A willingness to learn and attend training as necessary for the role
Own vehicle to travel to the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds
Lives within a reasonably commutable distance (within 30-45 minutes from site)
