About The Role:

As a suitably qualified and experienced Engineer (Mechanical and or Electrical/ Instrumentation) you will be based at the Manufacturing facility in Shildon, County Durham, or you would be attending routine installs and service visits at client sites throughout the UK. You would be part of a growing team although you may also be required to work unsupervised so similar experience/ competency will be necessary.

Typical work would involve conducting commissioning and maintenance activities such as; Instrumentation Setup and Calibration, Reverse Osmosis Membrane & Filter replacement, Mechanical Disassembly of Pressure Vessels such as WFI/ PSG chambers, Chemical Cleaning as well as Mechanical Rotating Equipment and Electrical & Instrument troubleshooting and repairs (12VDC – 415VAC). All works are carried out in accordance with an approved method statement with on-the-job training included with the role.


Candidate Requirements:

The ideal candidates come from an Engineering / Electrical / Process/ Chemical / Services background with previous experience and knowledge of Pharmaceutical Process Equipment including Purified Water Systems such as; Pre-treatment, RO/EDI, WFI Distillation, Plant & Clean Steam Generators, being considered a distinct advantage. Specialist product training will be provided for the right person.

Due to the location of client sites, frequent travel will be required with this role. This is typically travelling early Monday morning and returning Friday afternoon or sooner. Occasional Sunday travel is required for clients. All expenses are paid and additional working hours including travel will be paid at overtime rate. Saturday and Sunday shifts are subject to additional uplift payments on top of overtime hours.

Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years’ experience with supporting qualifications (NVQ 3/HNC/HND) and be willing to demonstrate competence. A valid Driving license is also required, and the successful candidate will have use of a company pool vehicle for site works. The Role

Main duties as a Gas Engineer can vary on a day to day basis which consist of -

• Installs, breakdowns and servicing in tenanted and void properties
• Customer Service skills - resolving any issues that may arise and working with vulnerable tenants

The working hours are 40 hours per week.

• CCNI - Core Domestic Gas Safety
• CENWAT - Domestic Central Heating & Hot Water
• CKR1 - Domestic Gas Cooing Appliances
• HTR1 - Domestic Fan Assisted Flued Gas Fires & Wall Heaters
• CMDDA1 (Carbon Monoxide Testing Training - ideal, but not essential)
• Own Tools
• Own Van
• CSCS/JIB card
• Asbestos Awareness or be willing to take the online test
• Must be able to provide 2 x check able references if you haven't worked with Fawkes & Reece before

Responsibilities:

• Ensure self and team carry out duties in accordance with all Health and Safety procedures, Codes of Practice and Statutory Regulations.
• Undertake supervision, coaching, support and development for team members.
• Day to day management of relevant employees including conduct, performance, attendance and capability.
• Build effective relationships with the client, answering queries, keeping them informed about site activities and developments.
• Identify opportunities for, and then organise and manage to completion, any additional works in accordance with any repair and replacement contractual requirements.

Requirements:

• Recognised apprenticeship/industry qualification in Electrical Installation or Maintenance i.e. City & Guilds Level 3.
• Up to date 18th edition I.E.E. wiring regulations.
• Proven experience as a Maintenance Electrician, preferably in an industrial or commercial setting within a facilities management organisation.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, and schematics.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices related to electrical maintenance.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Effective communication skills to interact with colleagues and provide clear maintenance reports.
• A valid & full UK Driving Licence is an essential requirement for this position.
