BACKGROUND TO THE POST

We are now seeking a motivated and organised individual who can liaise with both employers and learners to assess their competencies within the workplace. This post will be based at our Rugby College Site.
The department provides training and assessment for apprenticeships, workplace assessments, for industry related qualifications and Apprenticeship Standards.

The post holder will join the existing Motor Vehicle and Land Based Engineering team and to work with the Head of Work Based Learning to provide employers with the necessary support to employ apprentices, and to continue to support the apprentices in the work placements. To carry out Health and Safety checks and Risk Assessments. To visit students and Apprentices in work settings to carry out reviews, Assess, Train and offer support, to liaise with Employers. To provide a point of contact for employers and other agencies as necessary. To be responsible for producing and updating data relating to Work Based Learning and Apprenticeships, and for carrying out any necessary administrative tasks related to their caseload of employers and apprentices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

✓ Assist, guide and support students following their initial enquiry and interview to choose the right course of study.
✓ Assist, guide and support employers to access appropriate recruitment options and funding streams for their respective training needs, where appropriate; including the Apprenticeship Service, Recruit an Apprentice Service.
✓ Work with relevant parties to ensure students are placed in a safe, suitable and healthy environment with appropriate access to work based training.
✓ Work with support departments and Head of WBL to ensure that all existing and new programmes, within the vocational area are marketed and promoted in the best interests of the College.
✓ Carry out formal verification and moderation of assessments.
✓ To improve the quality of provision including involvement with internal and external verification procedures, annual review, self-assessment, Quality Improvement Plans and provision of data as necessary.
✓ Carry out formal progress reviews in a timely manner with Apprentices and their employers.
✓ Maintain and update all relevant documentation to a high standard in accordance with the requirements of the College, Awarding organisations, Funding Rules and relevant external agencies.

In order to support during busy exam periods, you may be asked to undertake exam invigilator duties. The College will provide training.

Resident Electrical & Maintenance Engineer - Rugby
Salary: £39,291 per annum, plus an additional 8% site allowance (£3,143 per annum), a night shift allowance of £5,000 per annum pro rata. You may be eligible for a welcome bonus of £1500.
Working hours: 40 hours per week with a shift pattern of 4 days on, 4 days off rotation. 4 days typically 5:50am - 6:15pm then 4 days off, followed by 4 nights 5:50pm - 6:15am then 4 days off.

Electrical & Maintenance Engineer role:

• Maintenaining electrical systems on site
• Expert fault finding and providing advice and guidance to customers in relation to M&E equipment
• Understand all plumbing such as replacing taps, sinks, cistern filling / flush units and heating elements
• Understanding and knowledge of general building fabric repairs to maintain the standard of the building
• Supply knowledge in a range of technical situations, making personal judgments on how to undertake work to achieve quality, cost, and time objectives
• Provide technical advice and guidance to other staff and customers to resolve problems
• Delivery of Corrective and Planned Maintenance to meet the performance measures detailed in the contract.
• Liaise with customers' representatives on a day-to-day basis to ensure customer requirements are fully met
• Check and ensure all appropriate and approved paperwork is completed

Requirements:

• You must have an must hold an electrical certification such as the 18th Edition
• You must have experience in facilities maintenance
• Skills in dock/doors, plumbing, air conditioning, air handling, gas appliances and lifts are preferred but not essential.
• Certification in IPAF and MEWP is desirable but not essential for consideration
• Full UK driver's license preferred but not essential
