The Senior Specialist Nurse will lead the nursing team to provide expert nursing care to patients referred to the Oxford BMT service contributing to this within the BMT pathway through management of their own caseload.

The post holder will work in collaboration with the Haematology Trial Unit , which is involved in a wide spectrum of clinical research relating to blood disorders including advanced cellular therapeutics. To help organise and facilitate co-design workshops with community groups and individuals with lived experience of psychosis from Bangladeshi, Black African, and Black Caribbean backgrounds. Screening and recruitment of patients diagnosed with psychosis and patients at ultra high risk pf psychosis. This will involve speaking to referrers regularly, attending clinical team meetings, visiting community mental health teams, hospital wards, as well as home based treatment teams. There will be monthly recruitment targets for all studies. The post-holder will be joining a team of research assistants to help meet these targets. The trial patients will be assessed on a range of measures at a number of time points for each study. About us:
At the Department of Physiology Anatomy & Genetics (DPAG) we undertake discovery science where we reassemble physiological processes at the molecular, cellular, tissue and systems level of organisation. In so doing we provide a bridge to translational medicine, and interface between physical and life sciences. Overview of the Role: We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join Dr. Becky Carlyle's lab as part of a collaborative project led by Professor Paul Harrison (Oxford Psychiatry). The project involves partnerships with Professor Carol Robinson (Oxford Chemistry), Dr. Thomas Hyde (Lieber Institute for Brain Development), and Professor Gary Stephens (Reading Pharmacology). The ideal candidate will have experience with membrane protein enrichment and preparation for mass-spectrometry analysis. A key focus will be developing assays to detect and quantify calcium channel conformations and interactomes, contributing to research on psychiatric disease mechanisms within a vibrant, international team. This is a 3-year position, available immediately.

Key Responsibilities:
Optimize cellular and molecular approaches for membrane protein enrichment
Develop and implement mass-spectrometry assays for protein analysis
Manage academic research and related administrative tasks
Refine scientific techniques and protocols, testing and analysing hypotheses
Collaborate on scientific reports, journal articles, and presentations
Operate specialist lab equipment and advise colleagues on protocols
Represent the research group at meetings and seminars
Selection Criteria:
PhD/DPhil in bioscience (or near completion)
Mass-spectrometry expertise, including sample preparation and data analysis
Strong research, project management, and communication skills
Experience with human brain tissue proteomics is a plus.

Work with the Manual Handling Training Coordinator and other Manual Handling Trainers to ensure the effective and efficient running of the manual handling training centre. Be responsible for the delivery of all mandatory central manual handling training to staff, both clinical and non clinical, and support the back care facilitator training system. Support, supervise and, where necessary, train with the unit-based Back Care Facilitators at departmental level, working with the back care advisors to adapt techniques to prevent back injuries and promote safe handling techniques. Promote recommended standards of practice, in line with professional bodies, during training, ensuring all measures are taken to promote the safety of staff and that any incidents/near misses are reported in a timely manner. Promote risk assessment within the training sessions as a tool to develop safe practices, safeguard staff, and to effectively communicate advice on back care and moving and handling to multidisciplinary teams. During training utilise creative approaches to meet learning needs of different staff groups, identifying and effectively managing barriers to safe practice through discussion, reassurance and problem-solving, acknowledging participants knowledge and skills within their speciality area.

Co-ordinate and monitor the care of patients in clinical research studies and trials as follows: Act as an initial point of contact for patients on trials and studies. Participate in identifying potential patients for studies, which may include a variety of identification methods, for example attending MDT meetings and clinics as appropriate. Evaluate the eligibility of potential patients. Participate in informed consent, randomisation and treatment allocation as stipulated in the trial protocol. Provide general written and verbal information to patients and families on the conceptof clinical research and detailed information regarding the objectives, scientificrationale, treatment, investigations side effects and follow-up for individual studies. Manage a caseload of patients. Participate in decision making concerning treatment of patients on clinical studies in accordance with the study protocol. Disseminate information to other clinical teams as appropriate.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Research Nurse to come and work within the Cardiovascular Research team. The post holder will work as part of the Research Team, predominately within the Oxford Heart Centre and the University Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, who are involved in a wide spectrum of clinical research ranging from observational studies to early phase clinical studies and trials, to large multi-centre randomised trials. Key roles include:
• Working with Principal Investigators (PIs) and their teams to manage and co-ordinate the processes and care involved with patients participating in clinical research studies.
• Deliver study information to patients throughout the trial period, including providing advice, support and direct care to patients and their families involved in clinical research studies.
• Taking informed consent, reviewing patient’s pre, during and following research studies as well as taking blood samples, ECGs and other standard cardiovascular investigations (for which training would be provided if required).
• Act as an expert source of clinical guidance to nurses and multidisciplinary colleagues regarding the impact and implications of the clinical research. Including delivering of training to those involved in the project and participate in presentations and educational sessions as required

An opportunity has arisen for anenthusiastic, motivated Research Nurse to come and work within the Cardiovascular Research team. The post holder will work predominantly within the Oxford Heart Centre on a variety of clinical research studies, ranging from observational studies to large multi-centre randomised trials.

The Cardiovascular Team is a team of dedicated nurses, coordinators and data coordinators who work together to provide a quality service for the rolling program of cardiovascular research studies, trials and projects undertaken within the OUH.

We are looking for a registered nurse with excellent clinical and organisational skills, who is able to manage a patient caseload. They will need excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Research experience would be an advantage but not essential as training will be given.

The post holder will have ownership over a number of studies and will be the initial point of contact for patients on these studies. The post holder will be supported by the wider research team lead by the Lead Cardiac Research Nurse Manager and Principle Investigators.

The post is a 12 month fixed term contract.

The post is Ideally full time, however we will consider applicants requiring part time hours.The role is funded by The South Central Research delivery Network.
