The CYP with Autism Spectrum Disorder or a Learning Disability Postgraduate Diploma programme involves both academic learning, coursework and supervised clinical practice. Alongside this, the post holder will work with colleagues in a specialist CFHD pathway, building relationships and wider skills in working children and young people with emotional and mental health needs in the community. The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the work of Dr. Charles Downing and his theoretical research group in quantum optics, nanophotonics and condensed matter. This Royal Society funded post is available for around 8 months with a start date from November 2024 (at the earliest) to January 2025 (at the very latest). The end date cannot be later than the end of August 2025 due to the funding ending at that point.

The successful applicant will conduct high quality research in theoretical quantum optics and related areas. They will work on current issues interesting the research group, including quantum batteries, non-Hermitian quantum physics and quantum topology.

About you
The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or nearing completion) or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. The Design and Technology department at Torquay Boys’ Grammar School is a well-resourced and modern department. It comprises 3, fully-equipped teaching areas, a new food room, 2 computer suites incorporating 2 laser cutters, and a technicians’ room. Following promotion of the previous postholder, the Technology team are looking to recruit a lecturer to deliver learning on curriculums within the wider curriculum of Technology for 16–19-year-old students. The successful person will undertake formal scheduled teaching duties of teaching, tutorials and student assessment within the subject areas of Automotive, Engineering and Marine. You may also deliver or support delivery of learning for the vocational aspects of the curriculum across 2 sites.

As a lecturer, you will provide pastoral and academic support for disengaged students to enable them to engage positively in programmes of learning, participating in meetings relating to additional support and referring and signposting students to additional support where required.

The successful candidate will have relevant teaching experience/qualifications in delivering subject area. You should have experience of teaching/tutoring groups and 1:1. You should have a passion and genuine interest in young people’s aspirations with an innovative approach to working with young people.
