The Exciting Role
We’re thrilled to offer a unique opportunity for an inspiring A-Level Chemistry Teacher to join our accomplished team! As part of our highly successful A-Level program, you’ll be central to helping students excel in their studies, encouraging them to aim high and reach their full potential at Nelson and Colne College.
In particular, the A level programme aims:
- To provide a highly ambitious curriculum which inspires students to achieve their very best and which supports them to aim high and reach the extraordinary.
- To support students to progress onto higher education and then onto exciting and ambitious careers.
- To ensure a strong focus on adding value, realising aspirations and equipping students with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to progress onto the best universities.
- To provide students with the widest range of experiences possible, building cultural capital; inspiring and enabling them to make a lasting and positive contribution to the wider society.
The successful candidate will be primarily based at the Nelson and Colne College campus but may be required to travel across sites.
This post could suit an experienced practitioner looking for their next challenge, a newly qualified teacher looking to make their mark within an Outstanding organisation, or a talented aspiring trainee teacher looking for support with their teaching qualification.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Inspire and engage A-Level students with outstanding Chemistry lessons that bring the subject to life
- Support students not just academically but as a personal tutor, supporting their journey every step of the way
- The ideal candidate will be a dynamic practitioner who promotes and upholds the same high expectations as the College and its students. With a focus on sharing good practice, they will be committed to their own continuous professional development and will engage enthusiastically with our quality processes to ensure that our students receive an Outstanding experience.

Special Incentive – Targeted Retention Payments
Chemistry is identified as an eligible subject by the DfE under the Targeted Retention Incentive payments for FE teachers. As such, successful applicants who are in their first five years of teaching in FE and meet the wider eligibility criteria would be eligible for a payment of up to £6,000.
