Oasis Academy Long Cross Specialist Resource Base for children with severe and complex learning needs including autism, is a unique and specialist provision situated in a thriving primary school in north Bristol. The Specialist Resource Base spans over five classes for children from reception to year six, we are in the process of expanding our provision to seven classes through a building project which is very exciting for us, and you would be part of a very new phase in the development of our provision. The children in our resource base present a range of strengths and needs, they all have an Education and Health Care Plan and require a specialist placement full time. The classes are predominantly based on age group and needs. There is up to eight children in a class with 3-4 members of staff. The position would be based in one class, where you would be part of the children’s learning journey throughout the academic year.
You must bring energy, confidence, and enthusiasm with a commitment to inclusion and continuing professional development, every member of the resource base team are considered important educators who have a valuable role in supporting children’s progress. Under the guidance of the teaching staff, you will provide direct support for the learning of individual children or groups of children to achieve defined progression targets. As part of this role, you will have the opportunity to lead the class on occasion and develop your skills in delivering specific curriculum areas alongside a supportive team who are committed to developing and continuing your professional development.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, and adaptable educator to join our highly skilled and experienced team, who is committed to providing, supporting, and leading outstanding provision for children. We need a resilient, positive practitioner who shows a good understanding of child development and a clear knowledge of the curriculum and how this can be delivered creatively with an emphasis on play.
Candidates will be expected to have at least an NVQ3 or equivalent qualification or be working towards this and experience of working with children with SEND in either a mainstream or special school provision. This is an exciting opportunity to join our unique and vibrant school.
