Thank you for your interest in this key post as an HLTA.We are currently recruiting for a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA). The post-holder would be responsible for the day-to-day running our Learning Support area, including supporting students and staff, communication across the wider school, arranging work for students, monitoring LSA support in classrooms, and supervising students in the area. We support nearly 400 students with special educational needs in our mainstream setting, including those who have physical disabilities, autism, hearing and visual impairments, and social and emotional needs including challenging behaviour. We have 55 students with EHCPs who are supporting within Learning Support.
Our SENDCo (Special Educational Needs and Disability Coordinator) manages the LSA and HLTA team, supported by two Deputy SENDCos (and another based in our Sixth Form) and a specialist teacher.
Our ideal candidate will have great communication skills and be able to work under their own initiative and as part of a whole school team. They will have previous experiencing providing support to young people with complex needs and liaising with families and wider teaching staff. They will have undertaken wider training in SEND.

The post is 19.5 hours per week arranged over 3 days, Wednesday to Friday. It is arranged as a job-share with another postholder. You will be working term time only, plus 5 INSET days. The salary range is Bristol Grade 9 (BG9) £29,777 rising to £32,076 (2023-24 pending proposed pay award). The actual salary will be £13,663 rising to £17,718 (2023-24 pending proposed pay award). There would be option to work additional hours as a Learning Support Assistant. St Mary Redcliffe and Temple is a successful and heavily oversubscribed 11-18 co-educational, Church of England, comprehensive school of over 1700 students, serving families from the whole of greater Bristol and beyond. We are located at the heart of the city and have a diverse student community with considerable parental support. 53% of students in the main school are from black and minority ethnic backgrounds and 19% of students have been recorded as being entitled to Pupil Premium funding.
