Job Title: SEND Teacher and TLR 2C
Salary: TLR 2C (In accordance with the current School Teachers Pay and Conditions Document)

Main purpose of the job
All teachers are required to carry out the duties of a school teacher as set out in the current School Teachers Pay and Conditions Document. Teachers should also have due regard to the Teachers Standards. Performance will be assessed against the teacher standards and objectives set as part of the performance management process as relevant to their role in the school.
To work closely with the head teacher, Leadership Team and under the direction of the Head of Inclusion in the implementation of the School’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) policy and oversee the day-to-day operation of that policy with the aim of raising SEND pupil achievement.
• Modelling outstanding planning, assessment, and teaching in order to support staff in the school team to achieve high quality teaching, effective use of resources and the highest standards of learning and achievement for pupils with SEND.
• Work with Head of Inclusion and staff to develop effective provision through:
• assessment of needs
• monitoring of pupil achievement and adapting provision as needed
• target setting, including PIPs (pupil inclusion plans)
• developing effective recording systems (e.g. through Provision Mapping)
• To promote the vision, culture, and ethos of the school.
• Be responsible and accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conduct.
• Treat pupils with dignity building relationships rooted in mutual respect, and at all times observing proper boundaries appropriate to a teacher’s professional position.

Main duties and responsibilities
In addition to carrying out the duties of a class teacher as outlined in the current Teachers Pay and
Conditions Document, the postholder will be expected to carry out the professional duties described
below, as circumstances may require and in accordance with the school’s policies under the direction of the Headteacher.
Teaching and Learning
• Lead regular meetings relevant to your area of responsibility with appropriate colleagues.
• Establish a safe, purposeful, and stimulating environment for pupils, rooted in the school values.
• Manage classes effectively, using approaches which are appropriate to pupils’ needs in order to inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils.
• To improve pupil progress and attainment by supporting and mentoring team members in understanding and meeting the needs of pupils with additional needs including SEND.
• To lead and manage support staff to ensure they are having the highest possible impact on learning outcomes for children.
• Improve the quality of teaching and learning in order to raise attainment and accelerate progress across the school (with a specific emphasis on SEND) by: -
o Providing guidance on effective teaching and learning methods.
o Providing resources for learning including assistive technology.
o Promoting Pupil Voice for SEND learners.
• Ensuring effective support for ECTs.
• Monitoring the quality of the learning environment for children.
• Improve pupil progress and attainment across the curriculum subjects by working closely with subject leaders to: -
o Ensure schemes of work are differentiated/adapted appropriately and evaluate the impact on teaching and learning.
o Ensure the curriculum is implemented successfully.
o Ensure regular work scrutiny takes place and meaningful feedback is provided to staff.
o Ensure that teacher assessment is well informed and moderated.
• Be a positive role model and demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values, and behaviour, which are expected of pupils.
• Have high expectations of behaviour, promoting self-control and independence of all learners.
Leadership and Management
• Work with the Inclusion Team to plan, promote and evaluate the strategic development of SEND provision across the school.
• Motivate, challenge, and inspire colleagues to provide outstanding provision for our pupils, leading to outstanding outcomes.
• Provide an excellent role model for pupils and for staff, by classroom practice and behaviour that sets a standard for others.
• Work with colleagues to develop an innovative and creative curriculum designed around the particular needs of our pupils through realistic but challenging expectations and quality first teaching across the school.
• Develop a coherent, shared vision for learning through teamwork, collaboration and sharing of best practice, ensuring a consistent approach to teaching.
• Seek out best practice through networks and research, to share with colleagues.
• Use data analysis and specialist assessment data to identify trends in attainment and to identify individuals/groups that are under attaining or are at risk of doing so.
• Manage, monitor, and accurately account for any budget for your area.
• Evaluate, organise and monitor the use of resources.
• Apply for additional funding as required through processes such as statutory assessment and Hounslow’s Mainstream Inclusion Partnership.

• Ensure that the work of the school is inclusive and issues are addressed in curriculum and/or pastoral management.
• Attend or lead Annual Reviews, PIPs and other review meetings when necessary.
• Liaise with pre-school providers and Year 7 colleagues in the implementation of the transition programme.
• Undertake day-to-day co-ordination of SEND pupils’ provisions and support staff timetables
• Promote cross curricular approaches to teaching and learning.
• Be a proactive and effective member of the senior management team.
Manage resources
Staff development
• Take a lead role in identifying group and/or individual training needs with regards to developing teaching and learning and provide support for colleagues promoting a whole school approach.
• Act as a role model, mentor or consultant to colleagues as appropriate and encourage collaboration, co-operation and teamwork.
Professional development
• Regularly review your own professional development requirements ensuring that all key training is completed efficiently and effectively.
• Be responsible for improving your professional practice through participating fully in training and development opportunities identified by the school or as developed as an outcome of your appraisal.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the resources available locally to support pupils with SEND and their families (e.g. through the Local Offer)
Other
• To attend and support with additional school activities i.e., Fairs, residential trips etc. when necessary.

• Assist in the smooth running of the school at all times, including being responsible with TLR holders for the school.
