What you will contribute to the team;

• Supporting the development and promotion of Mott MacDonald's presence within the Health sector
• Supporting the development of new business opportunities within the Health sector
• Supporting the development of best practice initiatives for the delivery of our services within this sector
• Assist in the development of programmes for the delivery of our services
• Preparation of estimates and cost plans in line with the brief
• Provision of financial advice including the impact of inflation
• Preparation of standard documentation - reports, valuations, letters, financial statement
• Preparation of tender and contract documents and participating in contract reviews relating to the contract with the customer
• Analysis of tenders and preparing tender reports
• Prepare valuations and financial statements; assist NEC PM's in assessing and valuing compensation events, re-measure as necessary and adjust variations
• Support in the settlement of construction disputes and prepare and agree final accounts
• Attend appropriate design team and progress meetings as and when required

Required for the position of Quantity Surveyor;

• Experience in relevant sectors: acute hospital developments both new build and refurbishment projects, within live hospital environments, an understanding of NEC contracts is required as well.
• Degree qualified in a Quantity Surveying subject (or equivalent)
• Chartered MRICS
• Proven skills and experience of delivering within a Cost Consultancy team whilst managing a range of contract values across a variety of healthcare facilities including acute, mental health, primary care, supported living and working across multiple projects, medium to high complexity projects
• Competent in client facing roles and support on client account management
• Competent at building relationships with internal management and supporting externally with key client stakeholders

Preferred, but not required

• Competent at managing and cultivating defined client relationships and securing new work
• Demonstrates leadership and able to work well in large teams, responsible for staff development, resourcing and/or is a recognised Technical lead within a specialist area
• Experienced in making decisions and presenting findings back to the client and internal stakeholders
• CostX / PowerBI / SharePoint experience is desirable but not essential

I am recruiting Assistant Quantity Surveyors for a Tier 1 national construction business based in Berkshire but initially to work on a new office and lab scheme and a Data Centre in Slough.

Our client is looking to hire a Senior Quantity Surveyor for approximately 12 months.

Minimum Requirement:

Key Accountabilities:

Development of typically higher value, complex contract cost models (Bills of Quantities, Schedules of Rates, Activity Schedules, Milestones) for use in the contract documentation, ensuring these comply with the project brief, timescales, budget estimates, all relevant M&O contractual requirements, legislation and regulations.
Keeping abreast of changes in the market and the competitive environment in which the suppliers operate to enhance value for money.
Measuring, validating, recommending and authorising monthly valuations / payments including verifying man· hour returns, site measures, day works claims, additional work requests, and claims.
Issuing approved certificate for payment and any notices of withholding to the contractor to allow invoicing.
Capturing and recording cost data (including Earned Value Management) for use on future projects reporting into the Estimating Benchmarking database.
Mentoring and support of Quantity Surveyors by providing training and guidance to optimise performance.
Control project costs and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality.
Developing and maintaining working relationships and awareness with key internal stakeholders.
Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player.



Key Responsibilities:

Supporting the project team in developing the appropriate project procurement strategies and tender documentation.
Record keeping and change management of the contract in accordance with the contractual governance procedures.
Management of the contractor incentive model and recommending any pain / gain share providing performance feedback as necessary.
Supporting the assessment and settlement of contractor claims, throughout the contracts.
Agreeing the final accounts with the contractor and internal stakeholders, and issuing the final certificate for payment.
Providing subject matter expert advice and guidance to the Project Team and Supply Chain.
Supporting the formal dispute resolution process and contract close out strategy as required.
Supporting the preparation of specifications including the scope of works.
Supporting the development of business cases and feasibility studies during project initiation.
Providing input into investment peer reviews when reviewing budget forecasting, spend and change controls.
Supporting change and championing best practice and ensuring Supply Chain processes, tools and systems are adhered to.
