We are recruiting a Quantity Surveyor at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 Hours
Contract Type: Permanent/Full Time
Location: Working hours can be split between home and office depending on specific task requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Building Consultancy Services Team

We pay an attractive salary of £37,938 - £40,476 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

A Quantity Surveyor is required within the busy Property Services team to provide cost advice, cost management and cost estimating services in relation to the Authority’s building related maintenance and new build projects.

The Authority has over 700 buildings, excluding housing, and Property Services delivers almost all of the related maintenance, improvement and new build projects. Current and future workload is very high and the successful candidate will be expected to work on projects ranging in value from £10k to £1m. Current projects include re-roofing, internal alteration and refurbishment schemes and building extensions.

The successful candidate will possess excellent technical and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team. In return the successful candidate can expect to be kept busy with interesting work within the well-established and experienced Property Services team.


For the role, we ask that you have:

1. A Relelvant Level 4, 5 or 6 qualification on the Framework for wales. For example, HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
2. Detailed knowledge of the technical, professional, legal and commercial issues associated with local authority construction and maintenance programmes.
3. Relevant experience of working in a construction or related area of work.
4. A full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business / work purposes to travel throughout the borough to visit sites and supervise projects.

Our client based in South Wales is currently recruiting for a Clerk of Works / Housing Surveyor to join their team as soon as possible on an ongoing contract.

This is a full time, temporary position for an initial 3 - 6 months period and the ideal candidate will have a Level 3 qualification in a relevant field and experience as a Surveyor in a social housing environment.

The purpose of the role is to assist in the provision of an efficient repairs and maintenance service and the delivery of associated housing management service.

Contribute to improvements to the housing stock and delivery of associated housing services including contractor monitoring. To carry out internal and external surveys of Housing properties and provide technical advice and support to relevant managers. Ensure the delivery of site works in accordance within approved standards, specifications and schedules associated with WHQS and HRO.

Key responsibilities:

• Record and refer any issues identified relating to property conditions or tenancy conditions
• Take and report any defects to the housing stock and process any work relating to resolving these defects.
• Identify tenant damage and unauthorised tenant alterations and provide technical assistance where required.
• Post inspect work as required and ensure that it conforms to departmental and contractual standards and in full compliance with all relevant legislation, completing customer satisfaction surveys when required.
• Assist in the implementation of a programme for planned improvement works and preventative maintenance.

We are recruiting a Principal Building Surveyor at Caerphilly County Borough Council.



This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly as a Principal Building Surveyor within Caerphilly Homes, Asset Maintenance and Repairs Team.



We pay an attractive salary of £40,221 - £43,421 and offer access to training and development opportunities.



You will support the Housing Repair Operations Manager in the delivery of a high-quality Repairs and Maintenance Service and the technical management of the surveying service, by supervising a team of area-based Surveyors and external contractors. Working across a wide range of functions, contracts, and projects as they arise.



You will provide advice, guidance and support advice to the team of Surveyors and be the Lead officer within the Caerphilly Homes, Asset Maintenance and Repairs department regarding damp and condensation issues including researching and evaluating new and innovative materials and solutions to damp and condensation related issues.



You will also be the lead officer within Caerphilly Homes, Repairs Department in the investigation, diagnosis and resolution of disrepair claims working in conjunction with the insurance team, outside solicitors and independent expert witness surveyors.



For the role, we ask that you have:

A Relevant Level 5 qualification - for example construction related.

Knowledge of building maintenance and construction within a repairs and maintenance environment.

The ability to lead and direct a multi-disciplined team in achieving goals and targets to realise the Council's objectives.
