Position: Mechanical Engineer (Bus Design)
Responsibilities:
1. Produce and control accurate bills of material on the Sage MRP system.
2. Maintain drawing history records and document all information throughout the planning process.
3. Liaise with production to ensure vehicles are built to the correct specifications.
4. Source new materials and technology as required and maintain supplier records.
5. Develop product designs that meet customer specifications using Creo models and assemblies.
6. Create build drawings, workshop procedures, and engineering reports in English.
7. Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure contracts are completed on time.
8. Support vehicle development builds and record modifications and improvements.
Requirements:
1. Education:
- BEng (Hons) or BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, OR
- HND in Engineering with 3+ years of relevant experience, OR
- 5+ years of recent relevant experience in the bus industry.
2. Experience:
- Minimum 2 years in a relevant engineering environment.
- Experience in commercial vehicle or zero-emission vehicle design is a plus.
3. Skills:
- Strong problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and computer literacy.
- Proficiency in 3D & 2D CAD (especially Creo), with PDM experience.
- Ability to write concise engineering reports in English.
Desirable:
- MEng/MSc in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in bus body/chassis design and automotive systems.
- Leadership skills and experience in zero-emission vehicle design.
