We are currently looking for a Data Architect to join our team who will play a pivotal role in shaping our Engineering Asset Management capability.
You’ll be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing data architecture to meet strategic business needs. Your expertise will influence system design and core properties, ensuring data models fulfils critical requirements. Experience in complex asset management datasets and API-driven architectures is key, as you’ll lead the creation of comprehensive data models and advise on database design and data formats.
In this role, you will set data architect principles and create documentation to support implementation. Your ability to provide clarity on every aspect of data will enable efficient problem-solving for data scientists and support complex business solutions. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the business to elicit and shape requirements, ensuring that data architecture aligns with strategic objectives. Your innovative thinking will drive continuous improvement, ensuring data models support big data analytics and advanced analytics.
Main responsibilities of the role include:
- Act as the Lead Data Architect on large Asset Management programmes, working alongside the Solution Architect and Business Functions
- Map the data flows between data systems and advise on which type of database and data format to use. Ensure that these systems are designed in a synergised way and ensure integrity between the data source and its references.
- Build an architectural blueprint at the conceptual and logical level (based on business process and operations) to ensure the successful implementation of systems architecture and to avoid disjointed data systems and gaps between teams and departments.
- Understand existing platforms and databases whilst designing for the future, forming a data migration strategy, to include opportunities for data cleansing.
- Develop data journeys, aligned to the target business processes
- Review contractual and operational report/management information dashboards
- Inform and influence process definition and application build to serve the best interests of the data architectural blueprint.
- Design the data entities, data elements, taxonomies and data flows that sit underneath the business processes.
- Develop data migration plans and manage suppliers and/or DevOps functions to deliver data migration programmes.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Experience in Asset Management software systems, preferably the IBM Maximo Application Suite v8 or similar EAM product sets
- Experience in working with Asset Management data sets, spanning complex and/or heavily regulated assets.
- Depth in data modelling and designing effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve company data.
- Knowledge of how to examine new data system requirements, implement migration models and oversee the migration of data from legacy systems to new solutions.
- Knowledge and experience in API design and specification
- Experience in developing test and migration strategy artefacts
- Know how to assure and integrate data services to meet the needs of the business.
- Strong communicator with excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
- Good level of understanding and experience as a developer and administrator of SQL databases (preferable MySQL and SQL-Server).
- Good experience of profiling, wrangling, transforming, and troubleshooting data from a variety of sources including SQL-databases and excel spreadsheets.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills to perform analytical reasoning, computation, interpretation, and presentation of data.
- Please note that the successful candidate will need to obtain SC Clearance to fulfil this role.
