The service is comprised of six flats, and supports individuals who have a learning disability and/or autism. The people we support may also have additional support needs such as behaviours that challenge, mental health needs and complex needs. About the role - Senior Design Manger

Reporting to the Technical Director, you will take responsibility for the compliance of the Design from inception through to operation of the building. You will ensure compliance of the design in accordance with Planning Permission, Third Party Agreements, latent defects insurers requirements, statutory requirements and contractual obligations arising from the Land Sale and Design & Build Agreements.

Duties & responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with the D&B Contract Employers Requirements & Contractors Proposals.
• Lead and guide the project external and internal design teams and ensure good communication and co-ordination.
• Appointment competent designers and consultants.
• Provide primary design management to facilitate the timely completion of design information to meet the design programme targets and project budgets.
• Management and checking of the internal/external drawings and manage weekly registers.
• Ensure all records of design changes are kept to co-ordinate "as built" drawings upon completion of the project.
• Ensure the design is co-ordinated through our drawing management portal.
• Produce Design Programme / Information Required Schedules.
• Produce and provide updates of the design delivery schedule in line with the contract deliverables.
• Assist the Project Manager with a tracking schedule all design and cost issues.
• Closely track design deliverables to ensure project milestones are met.
• Writing / reviewing project and elemental specifications.
• Liaison with building control, planning authority, fire authority and other regulatory bodies.
• Ensure design risk assessments are created and appropriately maintained for each project.
• Ensure that design elements take due consideration of the CDM regulations and that all designs can be delivered in a safe and controlled manner on site.
• Assisting in the assessment of tenders (where required).
• Set out scope-of-work, deliverables, and fee schedules with external consultants.
• Site visits and inspections. Issuing of Site Inspection Reports to note key points from site visits.
• Organising and chairing Design Team Meetings as required.

Requirements for the Senior Design Manager

• Excellent knowledge of construction standards, regulations and legislation including Health & Safety.
• Excellent, up-to-date, practical knowledge and experience of construction processes.
• Ability to present information in a clear and concise way to the team and to senior management, enabling effective decision making.
• Experience of managing the operational performance of the design supply chain including setting and achieving challenging targets.

Utilities (UU) has awarded a Leading Civil Engineering Contractor a multi-year framework to provide the overall management and execution of the larger-scale on-site asset maintenance activities across their estate in the Northwest of England. About The Team:

RPS Water Consulting is a team of Engineers, Modellers, and Data Analysts providing Asset Management and Operational Strategy development, to our Water Industry clients to support business planning and delivery. This is an evolving industry, providing challenges and opportunities that require innovation, dedication, and teamwork to help us meet our clients’ needs.

In addition to the United Utilities framework, we also work with several major water companies across the UK, having a broad portfolio of long-term framework agreements in place.

About You:

As a key member of the Water Consultancy business, your role as Principal Civil Design Engineer is critical to helping us deliver great projects for our Water Industry clients. You will be working alongside a multi-disciplinary team of water project experts on a range of capital delivery projects.

You will have a substantial opportunity to contribute towards optioneering, outline, and detailed design expertise across various frameworks. Our scope of work encompasses a wide range of technically demanding projects in the field of Wastewater Infrastructure.

Your Responsibilities:

Interacting with clients to grasp their specific needs and preferences.
Creating an outline and detailed design drawings, as well as associated construction-ready documentation.
Offering input into the development of Feasibility-level designs and Optioneering assessments.
Generating concise and well-organised design calculations, reports, drawings, and other deliverables, including both outline and detailed design drawings and relevant construction-ready documentation.
Collaborating with contractors, the supply chain, and various project stakeholders.
Mentoring and providing support for the professional development of graduate engineers.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

Demonstrated proficiency in technical design across multiple disciplines within project environments.
Effective motivation, influencing, and people management skills.
Good grasp and working knowledge of relevant British Standards, UK Industry Codes of Practice, and Water Specifications.
Qualifications:

Preferably degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a relevant technical subject. Postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
Affiliation with a professional institution like IET, InstMC, or CIWEM, or in the process of working towards membership and nearing application.
