The role
As an Engineering Design Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Babcock has started a series of major infrastructure projects at Devonport. Over the next 10 years Babcock will develop state of-the-art facilities to meet the evolving requirements of the UK's Royal Navy.
Day-to-day, you'll be responsible for the facility design for spatial layout, boundaries, access, management of requirements, including co-ordination of verification and validation management processes.
- Responsible for integration of design across the proposed submarine facility. This includes management of requirements, interfaces, human factors, security, fire, emergency arrangements, facility level design deliverables and review activities.
- Co-ordinate the operational aspects of the system designs into an overall facility operational concept to demonstrate functional capability.
- Co-ordinate and design spatial layout and process management of facility by integration of the system designs into an overall facility layout.
- Ensure effective quality management arrangements operate and deliver through compliance with Babcock's business management system and technical manual.
- Ensure that the processes and activities being managed are appropriately documented with appropriate records, maintained, and configuration and quality controls applied.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Engineering Design Manager
- Experience as a Design Manager
- Experience working in a highly regulated environment i.e., Nuclear, Oil & Gas or Avaition.
Qualifications for the Engineering Design Manager
- The candidate will be degree qualified in an appropriate STEM discipline (or relevant experience).
- Preferably Chartered Engineer, registered with Engineering Council.
