A Design Manager is required to oversee design packages on a project for a large tier 1 main contractor. The schemes are valued at up to a maximum of £80m. The successful candidate will have experience of working on new build / refurbishment projects with at least two references to support this.

The Role

The SZC Project Team is a growing, diverse and collaborative organisation committed to engaging stakeholders, triggering development consent and preparing the project for the start of construction. The Engineering & Technical function within the Civil Works Programme (CWP) is an integral part of this project, responsible for the:

- Definition of the design, engineering, and technical requirements;
- Leadership of the delivery of all CWP design (from requirements definition to acceptance), including management of the Engineering & Technical budget and associated resources and supply chain to deliver the design to the CWP Delivery teams.
- Integration of constructability requirements and design integration within the Civil Works Programme and with Site Establishment and Offsite Infrastructure
The Design Manager will be part of the Engineering & Technical function within the Civil Works Programme and responsible for the technical aspects of the end-to-end design process in their specific scope area. The Design Manager will manage and co-ordinate the SZC Client and Responsible Designer inputs and requirements, manage technical change control, manage the technical assurance process to ensure delivery to quality and co-ordinate technical aspects with technical stakeholders, including EDF Nuclear Services Engineering (was PWRT TCO), SZC Design Authority, RD and L3 Design Supply Chain.

- Hold 5 years+ experience in a Design Management role within the civils industry.
- Have obtained a master’s in civil engineering/ structural engineering.
- Be an experience people leader with excellent communication skills.

Tutor Duties:

• To be a Tutor to an assigned group of students to undertake daily learning checks .

• To register students, accompany them to assemblies, encourage their full attendance at all lessons and their participation in other aspects of school life.

Your new role
You will be leading projects related to the discovery and development of new cutting-edge vaccines, primarily through the analysis and interpretation of genetic, genomic and other biological / immunological data sets to identify, design and validate antigens.This is a senior, hands-on role with plenty of input into strategy, working as part of a cross-functional team, interacting closely with biologists, computer scientists and senior/C-Level stakeholders and giving you the chance to input into the company's research direction and overall platform.The position offers good scope for flexible working and can even be fully remote within the UK.

• In-depth understanding of both traditional statistical and modern machine learning applications in immunological studies.
• Comprehensive insight into the architecture and mechanics of antibodies.
• Skilled in the use of computational tools and databases related to the identification of antigens and the formulation of vaccines, with a strong preference for hands-on expertise designing de novo proteins
• Exceptional quantitative acumen, with a knack for strategic analysis and resolution of complex problems.

Candidates with pharmaceutical / biotech industry experience are preferred for this role, as are those with a track record of antibody design for vaccines, though this is not essential.

As DT and Art Technician, your responsibilities may include:

• Assisting and advise teaching staff on the preparation and layout in classrooms for practical exercises, running trials, demonstrations and helping students with learning activities as appropriate.
• Ensuring equipment and materials prepared for lessons are to the specification of the teacher requisitions, including making up special equipment or modifying from existing equipment as necessary from instructions supplied by the teaching staff.
• In conjunction with the appropriate teachers to advise students on the safe and proper use of tools and equipment and on the correct and safe way to carry out learning activities. To also advise staff, as necessary, on Health and Safety issues and on the best way to carry out practical work.
