The role
As a Senior Engineer - Design Change, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary which involves supporting Royal Navy Submarines to provide a high calibre of mechanical engineering support to the Ministry of Defence.
Day-to-day, your focus will be planning and managing design change projects across a wide variety of submarine systems which will include liaison with our customer base and our sub-contractor network to ensure we deliver high quality design changes for our customers.
- Own and deliver design change tasks within the Mechanical team, responsible for planning and identifying resource required for the timely and successful execution of tasking
- Work closely with design change sponsor to ensure their goals and requirements are met and support them on decision making for design solutions
- Attend and contribute to design reviews and platform surveys as required by the tasking
- Utilise design teams to produce design change guidance, ensuring requirements have been met, design solutions are sound and outputs are high quality
- Provide support and advice on the resolution of technical issues and the direction of technical tasks
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days onsite at Babcock Technology Centre, Bristol Business Park (North Bristol) and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Senior Engineer - Design Change
- Demonstrable experience of working within a design change engineering role within a regulated industry
- Design change management experience
- Customer relationship management experience
- Strong engineering and problem-solving acumen to ensure design requirements are understood
Qualifications for the Senior Engineer - Design Change
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline or have relevant submarine domain engineering background or have design change management background
- Be a member of a relevant institution (e.g. IMechE, IMarEst etc.) and hold or be working towards Chartered or Incorporated status or have a willingness to work towards this as part of continuous professional development

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
