Your Role
As an Administrative Support/Fine Officer, you'll play a vital role in the operations of Plymouth Magistrates Court, helping to enforce monetary orders and support the delivery of justice. Your responsibilities will include:
- Engaging with Customers: Communicate confidently and effectively, including handling challenging conversations with individuals regarding unpaid fines.
- Decision Making: Assist with enforcement steps for defaulters and provide advice on court procedures.
- Customer Correspondence: Handle inquiries, manage customer calls, and liaise with agencies such as bailiffs, DWP, and employers.
- Data Management: Input case details accurately, process paperwork, and support telephone debt recovery efforts.
- Team Collaboration: Work with internal teams and external agencies to ensure efficient enforcement of judicial outcomes.
- General Administration: Perform essential tasks such as photocopying, filing, archiving, and managing office communications.
What We're Looking For
This role is ideal for someone with:
- Strong People Skills: Confidence to manage challenging conversations, while maintaining professionalism and empathy.
- Excellent Communication: Clear verbal and written communication to engage with customers and external agencies effectively.
- A Positive Attitude: Willingness to learn and adapt, even without prior administrative experience.
- Tech-Savviness: Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams) is helpful, but training will be provided for government systems.
- Attention to Detail: A meticulous, organised approach to managing tasks and meeting deadlines.

- Background Checks: The successful candidate will need to pass a Standard DBS check and provide 3-year references.
