A leading independent school in Bristol is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Teacher of Music to join their renowned music department on a maternity cover basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented music educator to contribute to a department celebrated locally, nationally, and internationally for its commitment to musical excellence. The department offers a broad spectrum of musical opportunities to students, fostering high standards in performance, composition, and appreciation across genres. This is a part-time position (0.7 FTE), with the possibility of a full-time role depending on the successful candidate's skills and availability.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will be an outstanding musician and educator, capable of inspiring and engaging students from KS3 through to GCSE and possibly A-Level. The role involves both classroom teaching and ensemble direction, including choirs and public performance preparation.
The ideal candidate will:
• Be an accomplished practical musician with the experience and passion to motivate students of varying abilities.
• Have a strong record of delivering high-quality, engaging lessons across a range of musical topics.
• Possess excellent communication skills, with experience liaising with parents and writing progress reports.
• Demonstrate strong IT skills, with proficiency in Microsoft OneNote in an educational setting as an advantage.
Requirements:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent qualifications are preferred.
• Experience in directing musical ensembles and engaging students in performance and theory activities.
