This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance work across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main Mechanical, Electrical, Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (MEH), cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station's vast network of rooms.
The role
As a Lifting Engineer - Appointed Person, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Being part of the MEH Alliance working on Hinkley Point C is a chance to be involved in a major project with national significance. You'll be working on the biggest construction and nuclear site in Europe and for one of the main mechanical organisations
Day-to-day, you'll join a well-established and highly functioning team with a great support network. Managing a small team of Lifting Engineers with vast knowledge, whilst looking after certain sections, installing for the next five years with great progression opportunities.
- Planning team to ensure lifting activities (and associated prep work) are prioritised
- Creation of the Processes and Procedures to effectively control MEHA lifting activities and ensuring that the lifting equipment is thorough examined (including lifting accessories)
- Develop of lift plans in accordance with NNB Management of Lifting Operations Standard
- Selection of appropriate lifting accessories, including their method of attachment to the load, and any protection used to prevent damage
- Briefing all lifting/rigging supervision in the lifting operation to ensure that the safe system of work described in the lift plan is understood.
- Investigate all hazards within the operating area
This position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools, or standing for extended periods of time.
This role is full time, 38 hours per week, and is based at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater.
Essential experience of the Lifting Engineer - Appointed Person
- Lift planning using Mobile/Crawler/Tower cranes
- Lift planning of rigging operations
- AutoCAD proficient
- Proven track record in nuclear power preferred
- Experience working on major construction projects
- Experienced in delivering and operating as a Team Lead, including experience working within Joint Ventures
Qualifications for the Lifting Engineer - Appointed Person
- CPCS A61 Appointed Person (Blue Card)
- NVQ Level 3 Steel Erecting/Moving Loads
- IOSH managing safely
Security Clearance
