We are recruiting Environmental Protection Specialists within the proactive Environmental Protection Team. We have both full-time and part-time opportunities. You will be an integral part of a team which includes specialists in air quality, contaminated land, noise and environmental permitting. The Environmental Protection Team are responsible for protecting public health by assessing and improving air quality, identifying and remediating contaminated land, reducing noise and regulating industrial premises. As a member of this team you will be responsible for ensuring the Council implements and meets its statutory duties. You will ensure that new development within the borough complies with relevant best practice. You will liaise closely with the Planning Team and other internal departments as well as outside agencies such as the Environment Agency and UKHSA.
This is a hybrid post which means working in one of our Council offices in locations across the borough, completing visits around the borough plus the opportunity to work from home. About You
You are a positive, dynamic and results-focused individual with a firm belief in protecting and improving the environment and the health and quality of life for residents. You will have:
a degree or diploma in either Environmental Sciences, Air Quality, Acoustics or related environmental subject.
experience of working in environmental protection, either within the public sector or a commercial setting.
experience in reviewing and analysing specialist environmental reports and effectively communicating the findings to relevant parties.
awareness of the importance of multi-disciplinary working and an integrated team approach.
the ability to cope positively with change and an ability to promote positive change to make a difference.
a full driving license.
