Our Contracts Co-ordinators, Managers, and Analysts monitor contract performance, conduct audits, and strive for continuous improvement in waste management standards. About the Role
As a Contracts Co-ordinator, you’ll support Contract Managers in overseeing the operational performance and compliance of GMCA’s waste management contracts. You’ll manage key tasks like auditing, process monitoring, and liaising with stakeholders across Greater Manchester’s waste network. You’ll contribute to sustainability initiatives, help implement best practices and ensure alignment with GMCA’s corporate and directorate plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Support & Service Delivery: Support the Contract Management Team with tasks like managing email inboxes, coordinating daily operational needs, and overseeing Contract Monitor tasks to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Performance & Audit Monitoring: Conduct audits, including weighbridge checks, and perform site visits to assess contractor performance. Support continuous improvement by reporting findings and suggesting optimisations.
- Stakeholder Relationship Management: Build strong relationships with contractors, local authorities, and external bodies, fostering collaborative contract management. Use your influencing skills to ensure effective partnership and compliance at all levels.
- Governance & Reporting: Set up governance structures, meetings, and reporting protocols. Maintain accurate records, produce concise reports for management and stakeholders, and represent GMCA at internal and external meetings.
- Compliance & Continuous Improvement: Ensure contractors meet environmental and waste disposal regulations, support GMCA’s Sustainability Strategy, and drive improvements in waste and resource management practices.
Skills & Experience We’re Looking For
- Qualifications & Sector Knowledge: A degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in waste management, environmental services, or a related area. Familiarity with Health and Safety, Waste Regulations 2011, and Environment Act 2021 is essential.
- Strong Communication & Relationship-Building: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly to varied audiences. Proven experience in building and managing effective relationships across public and private sectors.
- Attention to Detail & Organisational Skills: A methodical approach to tasks, with strong organisational and prioritisation skills, allowing you to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
- Technical Proficiency & Data Management: High proficiency in MS Office, particularly in creating management reports with spreadsheets and databases, and an ability to analyse financial data to support contract management.
- Self-Motivation & Flexibility: A proactive and flexible approach, with the confidence to challenge existing processes and contribute to continuous improvement aligned with strategic objectives.
