Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of equipment to make sure they are in good mechanical and safe operating condition. Performs routine inspection and minor maintenance on all vehicles assigned to Outdoor Recreation. Uses and maintains tools and equipment. • Plans and carries out shipping arrangements for movements are made principally within a geographic area comprised of approximately one-half of the United States or nationwide (and sometimes to contiguous foreign countries) including shipments to seaports when there is no responsibility for rates and routes beyond the seaports.

Inspect and perform functional checks such as landing gear retraction and operation checks on hydraulic, electrical, pressurization, lubrication, de-icing, vacuum, induction, and exhaust systems.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART), to serve as a fully qualified mission-ready pilot in the unit type aircraft and gain experience and training as a flight instructor. Position also accomplishes a variety of administrative duties related to flight/ mission accomplishment such as scheduling, mission planning, AFRC operational training, and mission management. Subject position is a restructured position. RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Employees assigned to these positions are charged with the responsibility for the flying proficiency of pilots assigned or attached to the unit. This is a developmental position leading to the GS-13. Flies a variety of airplanes or helicopters to a variety of locations, some of which are unfamiliar, for the purpose of transporting passengers. Flights include both day and night flying.
2. Operation of single, twin, or multiple jet engine or turboprop aircraft fixed-wing or rotary aircraft Performs mission planning, preparation and filing of flight plan, and crew briefing. Ensures aircraft is pre-flighted, inspected, loaded, equipped, and manned for mission. Conducts training of crewmembers.
3. Ensures operational readiness of crew by conducting mission specific training. Develops plans and policies, monitors operations, and advises commanders. Assists commanders and performs staff functions related to their aircraft specialty.
4. Interviews pilots assigned or attached to determine backgrounds and training in various types of aircraft, especially in the type of aircraft assigned to the unit. Represents the unit by participating in discussions, meetings or serves on panels/committees.
5. Serves as a representative of the Air Force Reserve to the public and dignitaries and high ranking personnel during visits and while performing duty at or away from home stations. Performs other duties related to flying and accomplishment of the unit operational and training mission.
