Job Description
The post holder will organise and lead a team of operatives, ensuring the safe, efficient and economical completion of work, whilst meeting stated quality standards, performance indicators and targets. Undertake the range of duties as a working member of the squad.
The ability to meet own and team deadlines is vital.
The post holder will be directly involved with the performance of a wide range of grounds maintenance and cemetery maintenance functions including responsibility for grave digging, interments, grass cutting, weed killing and wider general amenity issues.
Requirements
Co-ordination of open space operations.
Workforce supervision and leadership.
To undertake the monitoring of open space operations and processes to ensure that required standards are being achieved and processes complied with.
To undertake training and development of front line employees and to participate in training to keep abreast of service related issues.
Undertake Landscape and Recreational Maintenance Work.
To assist in monitoring for legislative compliance.
To assist in procurement and budget monitoring.
To undertake associated administration.
To undertake risk assessments on operational activities and develop and safe methods of work.
Organise resources (human, material fleet, plant and equipment etc) to ensure that these are optimised and used effectively.
Complete and submit relevant documentation on completion of jobs; check weekly timesheets; update work programmes, attendance records etc.
Assist with pricing of contracts and liaison with clients (internal and external), subcontractors, suppliers and members of the public
The Individual
Significant experience in a grounds maintenance or landscaping environment, including leading front line operational teams.
Knowledge of grounds maintenance / landscaping methods and best practices.
Sound knowledge of tools and machinery used in grounds maintenance.
Practical knowledge of Health and Safety processes and procedures and the ability to work effectively within these processes
Experience of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook Express Software packages
Must hold a NEBOSH certificate, or similar, or be willing to gain within a specified time period.
Must hold an Emergency First Aid Certificate or be willing to gain within a specified time period.
Certificate of competence for the application of pesticides with hand held sprayer (PA1 & PA6)
Effective organisational/time management skills
Ability to drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes with trailers over 750kg and hold an appropriate driving licence
Ability to operate plant, machinery and equipment
Ability to maintain accurate records

You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van

Hours are Annualised (35 hours in the winter and 39 in the summer)
