As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC, WG-5801-10 you will troubleshoot, perform maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles. Troubleshoot equipment and diagnoses the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks and/or uses test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, pressure gauges, and computer diagnostic tools. Remove and disassemble engines and major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems. Independently perform repairs and maintenance functions in remote locations that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts of components and systems such as injectors, leaking wheel cylinders, corroded mufflers, fuel tanks, brake cylinders and worn brake shoes, voltage regulators, generators, injector pumps, and fuel pumps. What you'll need to succeed
As well as strong communication and organisational skills, you should have:

• A PhD (or be nearing completion) in molecular biology, biochemistry, cancer genomics, or related fields, or significant equivalent experience
• Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, including RNA/DNA analysis, PCR, protein analysis, and western blotting.
• Advanced cloning skills, with experience in genetic engineering, vector construction, and CRISPR/Cas9 systems.
• Expertise in recombinant protein design and expression, utilising systems like E. coli, along with purification methods such as FPLC and mass spectrometry.
• Familiarity with genomic technologies like ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, and single-cell methods, preferably within oncology research, though this is not essential.

It would be an advantage to have good data analysis skills and experience using programming / scripting languages such as Python and/or R, along with tools like MATLAB and Bioconductor, however training can be provided.
