Wesham rehabilitation unit are seeking Health Care Support Workers to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity and the successful candidate will be part of an evolving service, inpatient based with regular access to and promoting reintegration into the local community.
Encouraging independence, enhancing life skills and assisting to develop therapeutic relationships across a number of support services in a safe and caring environment is key to the support we offer service users at Wesham.
We are looking for applicants that are enthusiastic, reliable and committed to helping others in their recovery journey to come and join a forward thinking, dynamic and constantly developing team.
Whilst working as part of the team you will be required to:-
Work as an integrated member of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT), working within a rotational shift system to support patients according to their care needs, some of whom may present with problematic or challenging behaviour.
Contribute to, and participate in the on- going support of patients and their carer’s. Contribute to the protection of patients, from abuse.
Contribute to the health, safety and security of patients and their environment. Obtain, transmit and store information relating to the delivery of a care service. Assisting to maintain the safety and security of the unit. At times undertaking levels of observations.
Being aware of the trust policy and adhering to.
Day to day this would be supporting service users engaging in their therapeutic timetable following the guidance and instruction from senior staff.
This could include a range of activities such as ADL support – cooking, laundry, promoting self-care, accessing community via attendance to local support groups, outdoor activity, education opportunities, developing structure and routine,
Understanding and supporting set goals and care plan. Providing feedback to senior staff and wider MDT regarding service user interactions.
Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria and Sefton area.
