Candidates without neonatal transport experience will be appointed as a Band 5 during the training period, once they have successfully completed competencies & objectives within 8 weeks they will transition to a Band 6 Specialist Nurse role within the Northern Neonatal Transport Team. This post is suitable for a motivated individual with a keen interest in neonatal retrieval, someone who wishes to develop & extend specialised skills & knowledge within our dynamic regional Neonatal Transport Team. Job Purpose Band 5 This is a development post working under the supervision of an experienced transport nurse and medical staff. Accountable for assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating high quality patient care Provide effective support to both patient and carers throughout their care pathway. Act as role model, teacher and supervisor for junior staff and students, participating in mentor and preceptorship programmes To abide by Trust policies and procedures. Provide support for and depending on experience deputise for nurse in charge in their absence. Act as patient advocate in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code. Work collaboratively as an effective member of MDT. Band 6 The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust define a nurse specialist as a qualified nurse where the primary purpose of role is to provide guidance and support based on advanced level knowledge to patients, carers and health professionals concerning a specific disease/condition. Within the sphere of specialist practice: Is working towards advanced knowledge and skills within specialist sphere of practice. Contributes to the facilitation of the planning, delivery and evaluation of care pathways for a designated group of patients. Support the development of nursing practice within the specialist field and contribute to the body of nursing knowledge. Contributes to training and education within specialist area Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate.The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first months pay.
