The Armada Account Director is a substantial and challenging role in unique location that helps enable the UK MoD's operational outputs. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing senior leadership to c40 Mitie colleagues and is accountable for ensuring Mitie delivers against its contractual requirements; this is a £20+ million per annum facilities management contract that includes hard and soft FM services and significant programme of additional works/projects. The Account Director is required to inspire our people and lead our supply-chain in order to deliver exceptional services to our Client (SPV), the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and our Customer, Royal Navy. Armada is situated within the Devonport Royal Navy Base in Plymouth. It is a 25year PFI contract, which has 5 years left to run, and requires someone with the skills to interface with multiple stakeholders and PFI complexities.
Armada is one of a handful of UK contracts delivering Hard and Soft FM serviced as well as additional works/projects. As Account Director, this person is part of the Defence UK SLT (Senior Leadership Team), this is therefore a senior management position.
In this pivotal role as Armada Account Director, you will lead, develop, and support a dedicated team of Mitie colleagues, ensuring they are empowered to deliver exceptional service standards. You will have oversight of all business operations at Armada, meticulously managing every aspect to guarantee contract delivery meets agreed revenue and margin targets. This includes maintaining robust customer relations, overseeing service delivery, monitoring performance metrics, and managing financial aspects with meticulous reporting.
Building and nurturing collaborative relationships with local clients, customers, stakeholders, and the supply chain will be crucial to your success. You will handle commercial issues with adept support from colleagues and stakeholders, while actively promoting Mitie's brand and enhancing the company's reputation within the Defence sector.
Monitoring and driving progress against performance indicators will be a continuous responsibility, ensuring alignment with strategic goals. Your proactive approach will extend to identifying and mitigating risks and issues in close partnership with clients and stakeholders, while upholding stringent standards of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) across all service areas.
You will drive a culture of continuous improvement in service delivery and customer satisfaction, identifying upsell opportunities and enhancing service offerings. As the contract progresses, you will strategically lead successful 'Exit' strategies for the PFI contract, ensuring a seamless transition and leaving a lasting positive impact.
ABOUT YOU
You will have a proven track record in leading substantial (£10m+ annual) Hard/Soft or Total Facilities Management contracts, including additional works services, within both public and private sectors. Whether on the contractor or client side, you will have demonstrated collaborative leadership in delivering projects, including capital initiatives. Your experience in Change Management is essential, having successfully led transformative initiatives and supported teams throughout.
Ideally, you will have prior experience in Defence infrastructure contracts, understanding the complexities of stakeholders such as the UK MoD and the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO). Based at Armada in Devonport, this role demands a commercially astute individual who can inspire our teams and supply chain, fostering a supportive culture aligned with client and customer needs.
