OVERVIEW:
The Operations Director is overall responsible for overseeing the successful running of the Domestic / Cross Border Operations of the company, which includes Air and Ocean Freight operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
· Provide leadership & decision making to the operations departments
· Setting of goals & objectives for operations and product to achieve annual volume growth targets in conjunction with sales and participates in company marketing and sales efforts
· Manage the integration & implementation of new structures developed in operations
· Manage resources including tackling staff performance issues and identification of training needs, reviewing productivity and local recruitment
· Ensure all transports are carried out within predetermined cost and security standards and perform annual service and cost reviews to ensure we meet market requirements
· Ensure the operations departments adhere to all quality requirements e.g. operational compliance & certifications, ISO, Bizsafe Star, etc. and work with Finance to adhere to financial compliance requirements
· Prepare monthly reports relating to productivity, profitability, compliance etc.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· A Diploma / Advance Diploma / BSc. degree in business and supply chain preferred or their equivalent.
· 10+ years of air and ocean freight products
· Highly motivated leader who is assertive and adept at working in a competitive, challenging and fast-paced work environment
· Results oriented
· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
· English advanced proficiency (written and speaking)
· Cargowise system, Advance Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint skills
· Willing to travel occasionally
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Conduct performance evaluation for direct reports
· Recommend hiring, firing and promotion
· Identify and resolve departmental personnel issues
· Ongoing coaching and mentoring of staff to develop skills to the highest level
· Drives alignment & builds the team
ENVIRONMENT:
100% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions. Travel will be required in support of the position’s responsibilities.
