The Associate Director (Aquatic Ecology) role is an opportunity to develop and shape a dedicated technical team, and build upon the existing extensive project portfolio, both in the UK and internationally. Experience in engagement with clients, customers and environmental regulators is essential. Many of our projects are complex in nature and you will be required to work with other disciplines to create effective solutions. As well as driving delivery of our current portfolio you will contribute to the identification of opportunities and bidding for work.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across the Ecology team to deliver expertise in aquatic ecology investigations across all project stages, from bidding/feasibility/optioneering, extensive field survey programming, detailed design and assessment.


• Act as technical lead for the production of consent related technical assessments such as Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA) and Water Framework Directive (WFD) assessments.


• Business development, client liaison and establishing new clients.


• Growing, leading, and developing teams and supporting and training junior staff.

Key competencies and experience

• A degree in a relevant subject, such as ecology or other biological sciences, and/or a relevant postgraduate qualification;


• Demonstrable commercial consultancy experience and have Full Membership of CIEEM and/or Chartered Ecologist status.


• Extensive knowledge of UK and EU Wildlife Legislation, planning policies, licensing requirements and best practice survey techniques.


• Demonstrable experience working on large scale environmental projects.


• Willingness to undertake line management responsibilities and a business leadership role.


• Strategic mindset able to contribute to wider team leadership.


• Confident to take on a mentor role to junior staff.


• Flexible approach to working, with inquisitiveness and willingness to learn.

In order to support our planned growth, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Technical Director to join our Fire Engineering Department within our Building Safety Business Unit. This role could be based from several of our key locations and can be worked flexibly with a mix of office and home-based working and the option to adjust start/finish times.

Our Fire Engineering teams provide clients with cost-effective and bespoke solutions for the full range of fire safety design in different sectors.

What does the role involve?

You will be working across a variety of projects as part of a wider team based in the UK with the opportunity to collaborate with other Sweco business areas and on international projects. This role will suit somebody with significant design consultancy experience and posessing a recognised fire safety engineering qualification with a recognised track record in delivery of projects from design through to construction and completion.

As part of this role, you will sit within a wider technical excellence team where the focus is on the technical oversight and delivery of projects, albeit candidates with strong business acumen and line management are welcomed.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

Developing Fire Safety Strategies during Design and Construction stages.
Preparing technical engineering analysis using relevant guidance documents and methods i.e. prescriptive and performance based.
Carrying out site visits when required.
Attending internal and external meetings.
Preparing fee proposals.
Supporting the team in developing technical knowledge.
Overseeing and managing projects from inception to completion.
Liaising with clients on a daily basis.
Reviewing and authorising work done by others.
To be successful in this role you’ll possess:

Experience working in a similar role with extensive experience in fire safety engineering.
A proven background in fire safety engineering with an excellent understanding of fire engineered solutions

The Divisional Director is responsible to the Director of Operations for the direct delivery of all patient services within the Division of Surgery and Theatres. The Role

As M&E Director you will have overall responsibility for the M&E offices across the business. Through effective management of the M&E teams you will be able to demonstrate first class customer service skills, have the ability to adapt and multi-task whilst having that keen eye for detail. Your key responsibility is to ensure that the M&E teams are working to company standard and improving key KPI's such as revenue performance, increased conversion levels and increased repeat business through driving a pro-active sales culture within the offices. The role will report to the Group Revenue & M&E Director and involves working closely with the cluster/standalone offices along with property and central Revenue & Sales teams.

MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF JOB
* Lead the development of key systems including its Website, CRM, email, Finance, e-learning platform and supporting IT infrastructure
* Provide team leadership for the 3 staff
* Be an active part of the Strategic Management team

Lead the development of key systems
* Set out and agree the strategy for systems with key stakeholders
* Work with key stakeholders to agree the development strategy for each key platform and then develop the strategy into deliverable plans and ensure delivery within agreed financial parameters and targets.
* Carry out the necessary business analysis (and business case development if necessary) prior to accepting a requirement for development
* Maintain a development pipeline of work for all core platforms, agreeing priorities with key stakeholders and then allocating and adjusting resource as required to ensure delivery to agreed timelines
* Ensure that all systems are documented sufficiently to allow effective change management, including all key processes
* Lead the Supplier Relationship Management with key providers, setting challenging goals and monitoring performance
* Develop a strong performance culture and commitment to SLAs, customer satisfaction and quality
* Provide regular and ad-hoc reporting as required for Exec, Board and other stakeholders
* Maintain and develop effective professional networks that will add value to my clients work and ensure that it is viewed as an influential and reliable partner

Lead the Systems Development team

* Lead the team to deliver an effective and efficient support service by adopting a style of leadership that supports excellence and organisational success, creating a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
* Provide strong leadership and support to managers and staff, role modelling a customer-centric approach which inspires and motivates the team
* Work to remove any cultural differences between teams and align around a common goal of excellent member service
* Provide support and development to team members, to ensure teams are appropriately structured and resourced to deliver the corporate aims
* Predict peaks in demand and ensure the team is staffed appropriately, leading recruitment exercises when required
* Lead on change management activity across the organisation when technology is involved
* Ensure effective budgetary control mechanisms are in place to monitor spending and value for money
* Be proactive in providing the Board and the Executive Team with the necessary information to maintain effective oversight of the performance of the Systems Development team and implementation of improvement plans
* Ensure that the team can and does work as effectively from home as it can from the office by ensuring supporting technology is appropriate and delivering and adviser performance is monitored and managed.
* Improve the overall professionalism and skill within the team by developing specialisms and subject matter experts
* To be part of the escalation process for members who are unhappy with Service and for dealing with members who abuse the services
* Ensure team compliance with key policy andprocedure in areas such as health and safety; equalities and diversity; data protection; code of conduct and all other statutory requirements, which are routinely checked for compliance.

Qualifications
* Degree level qualification or qualified by experience.
Skills & Abilities
* Systems development skills using ITIL4 or Agile development practices
* Strong analytical skills - able to grasp complex issues and understand the problem from all perspectives - internal and external
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the skills to influence a range of stakeholders
* Flexible approach, with the ability to respond quickly to events
* Proven ability to handle sensitive issues in a professional manner, confidentially and to deadlines.
* Leading a team means visibility, taking responsibility for difficult members and leading change by example are important attributes for this role.
Experience
* Experience significant systems development and supplier relationship management
* Have managed remote staff
* Proven track record of delivering quality assurance and driving quality improvement
* Able to set and monitor challenging objectives and performance managing to delivery
* Track record of driving change to improve operations
* Demonstrable experience of budgetary management & control
* Experience within a quality subscription or membership environment
* Experience of working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and partners
* Proven track record of delivering customer-focussed service through others
* Track record of generating profitable growth through membership activities
Knowledge
* In-depth experience in Cloud Computing, IT Infrastructure, SaaS, telephony and contact systems
* Highly IT literate and can evidence the desire to develop new skills in reporting and data manipulation
* Knowledge of the PRS would be an advantage.
