EMERGENCY HOUSING TEAM LEADER
Permanent
37 hours per week
Scale S01 (£32,076 - £33,945 per annum)

We are seeking an inspirational Team Leader who shares our passion, enthusiasm and commitment to supporting a team of Emergency Housing Officers to ensure the effective operation of all our emergency accommodation in Blackpool.

Our hostels provide emergency accommodation, specifically for families with support needs and also individuals requiring support, across our various settings. All our hostels are located within relatively close proximity and within no more than a 3 mile radius of each other. Due to increased need, we also offer dispersed emergency accommodation out in the community with Emergency Housing Officers providing support to customers in this type of accommodation too.
As an Emergency Housing Team Leader, you will assist the Emergency Housing Manager to deliver a high-quality, customer-orientated Emergency Housing service, working on the frontline within the services to provide cover, as and when required.

You will have responsibility for the day to day operations at the hostels ensuring effective and efficient service delivery. You will provide line management to the Emergency Housing Officers including supervision, appraisal, recruitment and induction responsibilities to meet BCH policy and provide appropriate support, guidance, coaching, advice and instruction to the team.

The role also requires effective collaboration with the housing benefit service, housing options, voluntary and statutory agencies, such as social services and other relevant departments, which will include contributing to the protocol/liaison meetings.

You will ensure adequate staff cover at all times to enable the services to operate safely and effectively. This can include carrying out ad-hoc weekend/bank holiday duties within Emergency Housing as necessary. In addition, you will ensure that all necessary service procedures and Health and Safety requirements and risk assessments are in place, reviewed regularly and updated as working practices change.

It is essential that candidates have valued supervisory skills, including setting, planning and monitoring workloads of team members and significant experience of working with and/or supporting vulnerable families.

You must also have significant experience of dealing with tenants in a social housing environment and experience of multi-agency partnership working.
Applicants are required to have an understanding of the principles of social housing, including emergency housing, customer rights, choices and how to provide appropriate support and knowledge of Safeguarding policy and practice and professional boundaries.

You must be an excellent communicator with a confident manner and the ability to remain calm under pressure and in crisis situation.

You must have a minimum of 3 GCSE’s or equivalent, at Grade C/4 or above to include Maths and English. A customer care or professional housing qualification would be desirable.

It is desirable for applicants to have access to a vehicle for work purposes due to potential travel between sites.

Utilise your pharmaceutical knowledge to formulate new products or presentations with appropriate stability to ensure all products prepared within the Production Unit are of suitable quality and are fit for their intended use. Take an active role in the training of production unit staff including pharmacy support workers, trainee pharmacists, pharmacists, student technicians and technicians to meet national requirements and to promote continuing professional development. Develop and manage suitable training programmes, authorise staff competencies and responsibilities. Act as a lead for the training and maintenance of the intrathecal registers within the Aseptic Unit ensuring compliance with national guidance and Trust Policy. Participate in external audits from regional Quality Assurance, assist in co-ordinating any actions necessary from the audit cycle. Participate in the Aseptic Unit internal audit calendar and to assist in co-ordinating any action necessary from the audit cycle. Work closely with the clinical cancer services team to ensure a seamless pharmacy service for cancer patients. Attend Trust Resuscitation Committee meetings and provide pharmaceutical advice where necessary. Assist in the evaluation and management of Clinical Trials involving medicines which require aseptic preparation in collaboration with the Clinical Trials Team. Attend Aseptic Services Pharmacist group meetings and Quality Control North West training events to ensure the cascade of information and the compliance with national standards while continuing your professional development.

Due to promotion an exciting opportunity has arisen within our Pharmacy Aseptic Unit. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed pharmacist to support the team.

The established Aseptic unit at Blackpool provides medicines for patients in need across the Trust. We support the Trusts tertiary Haematology status by providing life saving chemotherapy.

You will also be part of a large, supportive and dynamic pharmacy team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals who offer a range of essential services to patients around the Trust.





The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide safe and effective provision of aseptically prepared medicines. You will work alongside other members of the senior Aseptic Unit team to ensure a high quality service is offered to all stakeholders.

You will provide leadership and supervision to the Pharmacy Aseptic Unit and support the Aseptic Services Manager in the management and development of pharmacy aseptic services at Blackpool Victoria Hospital and deputise as required.

You will be a named and accredited Supervising Pharmacist for the preparation of a range of intravenous medicines prepared within the Aseptic Unit.

You will take an active role in the management of the Pharmaceutical Quality System by assisting with maintenance, development and approval of Standard Operating Procedures, policies, training documents and any other records deemed necessary.

Provide support to the Pharmacy Department by means of an appropriate clinical commitment.

The Pharmacy Department at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals is a large department (over 150 staff) and a friendly environment with established senior support. We are dedicated to education and professional development and encourage/support ongoing education. We have a very favourable oncall commitment, that all pharmacists in the department contribute to.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Pharmacy services are provided in-house at both Blackpool Teaching Hospitals and Clifton Community Hospital under the direct management of the Director of Pharmacy. Outpatient dispensing is provided onsite by a third-party contractor.
The pharmacy team consists of 179 WTE staff when at full establishment. Pharmacy has a strong and visible presence on the wards with an average of almost 80% of inpatient beds visited daily by a clinical pharmacist and 83% of pharmacist time spent on clinical activities. We have a bustling dispensary which in the last 12 months alone output 275,421 items and a new, state of the art dispensing robot.
