Job Title: Data Centre Operations Manager

Location: Slough, United Kingdom

Salary: £68,000 per annum + £5,000 car allowance

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Data Centre Operations Manager to join our dynamic team in Slough. As a critical member of our organisation, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operation of our data centre facilities, ensuring maximum uptime and optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee day-to-day operations of the data centre, including monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all critical systems.
• Implement and enforce operational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
• Lead a team of data centre technicians, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure high performance and productivity.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to understand and prioritise business needs, and develop strategies to meet operational objectives.
• Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to procure necessary equipment, services, and resources.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess the condition of the data centre infrastructure and identify areas for improvement.
• Develop and maintain documentation, including operational manuals, procedures, and incident reports.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience in data centre operations management, with a strong understanding of critical infrastructure systems such as power, cooling, and security.
• Technical proficiency in data centre technologies, including HVAC systems, electrical distribution, fire suppression, and environmental monitoring.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve goals and objectives.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, with a focus on identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
• Relevant certifications such as CDCMP (Certified Data Centre Management Professional) or equivalent are highly desirable.

Role Purpose

• To oversee and manage the day to day activities of the Fabric Team and fabric related sub-contractors.
• Generation of proposals and supervision from inception to completion of minor and extra works.
• Ensuring reactive, minor and extra works are completed to building fabric to a high standard and within service level agreements
• Ensure that Reactive maintenance is carried out to all site fabric assets
• Liaise with sub-contractors to obtain quotations prior to preparation of minor and extra works proposal
• Ensure that accurate and comprehensive records are kept pertaining to Health & Safety, Building Compliance and Quality Assurance.
• To ensure the Fabric Technicians are undertaking work tasks as directed and with suitable H&S awareness/implementation.
• Monitoring and awareness of compliance to the contractual KPI's/SLA's.

• Previous experience within a fabric based manager role
• Qualified within a trade
• Experience with extra works and projects
• Able to manage and oversee direct and indirect labour
• Able to pass a BPSS site clearance
• Experience managing both commercial and operational functions

• Oversee the full contract life cycle, from negotiation and execution to performance monitoring and closure.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met or exceeded.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including operations, procurement, and finance, to ensure seamless contract execution.
• Monitor and evaluate service performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
• Conduct regular contract reviews and provide reporting to senior management.
• Negotiate contract renewals and amendments, as required.
• Ensure all contracts comply with legal and regulatory requirements

The Ideal candidate will have:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities Maintenance, with a strong emphasis on contract management.
• Technically qualified either electrically or mechanically
• Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
