We are looking for a Field Operations Manager to join our Thames Water waste operations team at Esher (STW).
The purpose of this role is to lead and develop a team of Technicians working on Waste Pumping Stations in the Home Counties South East area, base location would be Esher STW.
This position is a mixture of office /field-based, the percentage split based on changing business needs and challenges (average 60/40 split).
You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of your sites, delivering the planned maintenance program, responding to operational events and delivering excellent customer service. In this role you will also need to develop a strong working relationship with the maintenance projects team, network teams, key contractors and other stakeholders.
- 36 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
- Offering a salary up to £40,000 per annum depending on your level of experience plus a car allowance.

What you’ll be doing as the Field Operations Manager
- Coach, and develop people to fulfil the business needs.
- Managing a total of 15 technicians made up of Operators, Mechanical, Electrical & ICA technicians.
- Develop and implement continuous improvements to optimise operational performance and customer service.
- Fully own and resolve customer complaints relating to the relevant geographical area. Build relationships with key account customers.
- Guide and develop the team members by setting measurable goals and promoting a culture of engagement and motivation.
- Control team unit costs to outperform budget whilst ensuring all service level agreements are fulfilled.
- Take responsibility for safe working practices that comply with the company's safe system of work.
- A practical working knowledge of waste water networks would be highly beneficial, allowing you to provide not only leadership to your team, but technical mentoring as well.
What you should bring to the role as a Field Operations Manager:
- Be a self-motivated individual who can immerse themselves into the team around them, you need to be very disciplined and have the desire to learn from those around you and have a can-do attitude.
- This role can be demanding at times but very rewarding too.
- To Have previous experience in leading a high-performing team of Operational staff is preferred but not essential.
- Take Ownership of responding quickly to faults, being curious to fully understand the problem, and identifying the best solution to resolve it the first time.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to interact with the team.
- Deliver exceptional service through an enthusiastic and positive approach, taking accountability for your role while working accurately and flexibly within a busy team.
- Possess strong IT literacy skills as all work is managed through the SAP system, user training for this and other standard software systems will be provided.
- Have a full valid UK driving license as travelling to other sites and fields will be required.
