Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Environmental Health Officer or Environmental Health Officer to join Aberdeenshire Council. Reporting to the Team Manager, you will work in a varied team alongside other Senior and Environmental Health Officers, Authorised Officers and Technical Staff.
As a Senior Environmental Health Officer, you will be expected to have enhanced knowledge and experience within at least one subject area such as Health and Safety, Licensing, Housing, Pollution, and Public Health and be a point of contact within the Service for this subject.
As an Environmental Health Officer, you will be expected to have general knowledge and experience within at least one subject area such as Pollution, Public Health, Health and Safety, Licensing and Housing.
Aberdeenshire offers a varied workload across a variety of towns, villages and countryside. Whilst the majority of staff work from home, there are a number of offices available for flexible working and a hybrid approach taken to meetings. Candidates must have the ability to travel within the North East of Scotland at short notice.
To apply for the Senior EHO role, candidates must hold at least one additional qualification in addition to their Diploma in Environmental Health as set out in the job profile.
Applications for the EHO post will be considered from graduate EHO’s who are currently working towards their diploma in environmental health and aim to complete their professional training and attain the diploma within the next twelve months.
There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.
This position is located within the North Team, with the candidate expected to support the Team Manager in the delivery of general Environmental Health functions, including Public Health, Statutory Nuisance, Housing, Health and Safety, Licensing and Events.
This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
