We are seeking a motivated career minded individual to join our Compliance Team as a Senior Process Scientist.
As the successful candidate, you will be the centre of expertise for operational managers and process technicians, as well as providing expert technical support and guidance to operational sciences and field teams to comply with business, statutory and regulatory objectives.
You will also ensure the risks at all our assets and associated actions are communicated to the business and any actions progressed to the appropriate teams with the aim of preventing operational or statutory exceedances. You will carry technical expertise and end-to-end treatment review on our operational sites to drive improvement and efficiency savings.

What you’ll be doing as the Senior Process Scientist
- Take ownership of root cause investigations/reporting of root cause analysis & drive follow-up actions for both pollution and quality compliance failures.
- Ensure our sites are compliant with all permitted requirements, including flow permits, and identify & drive resolution of any shortfall identified.
- Liaising between site Operations, Capital delivery teams, contractors and other technical teams, ensuring permit conditions & Environmental Management Systems are adhered to.
- Support regular business reporting and local/regional compliance meetings, being confident in presenting and communicating to different audiences.
- Support in gathering data for regulatory information requests for our regulators, customers, and other third parties.
What you should bring to the role
- HNC or degree (or equivalent) in a Scientific or Engineering Being registered or chartered scientist would be an advantage although this is not essential.
- Significant experience in water treatment processes, supply or regulation, with experience of working with Sample Manager, EQUIS and SAP systems would be desirable.
- Good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills are also key to this role as you will be liaising with internal stakeholders within Thames Water on a day-to-day basis.
- The ability to work in a logical and analytical manner and be able to maintain a positive and professional approach when dealing with customers is also essential.
- Travel to other sites is required as a major part of this role thus a driving license is essential.
