About the role

Balfour Beatty are looking for a Senior Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor to join our team covering projects in and around the Edinburgh area.

The Senior Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor will support the Balfour Beatty projects to drive HS&W performance, ensuring efficient and effective advice and support to meet and where possible exceed operational requirements supporting the Head of HS&W & HS&W Manager to achieve Zero Harm objectives.

What you'll be doing

  chain to promote zero harm delivery.

Who we're looking for

The following qualities/experience are required:

• Relevant H&S Diploma, NVQ or Degree (or equivalent level 6 qualification).
  May consider candidates with a certificate/qualification currently working
  towards one of these qualifications with relevant on-site experience and to have
  or be working toward Chartered Membership of IOSH.
• Strong understanding of UK Health and Safety Regulatory Framework.

Senior Research Fellow (qualitative methods) to join the Discovering Liveability: Co-producing alternatives to suicide prevention project, contributing to the leadership of innovative suicide research that centres liveability and lived/living experience.

A vacancy has arisen for a qualified Senior social worker to lead the Substance Misuse Team Residential Rehabilitation Team/Alcohol related brain damage.

The team comprises of Mental Health and Substance Misuse Social Workers, Community Care Assistant and Peer support worker. This post is based within Woodlands House Astley Ainslie hospital and Milestone House. Experience of partnership working would be desirable as the team works closely with our partners in health and is integrated within the wider Health and Social Care Partnership.

Experience required:

• Professional Social Work Qualification (i.e. BA, DipSW, CQSW or equivelent)

• Any of the following post qualifying qualifications would be desirable; MHO accreditation, Practice Educator qualification or Advanced professional certificate in Adult Protection.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the role of Building Standards Senior Structural Engineer and help us drive forward our programme to continually reshape our services in response to demands.

Edinburgh is a dynamic and growing city, and the Building Standards Team has a key role in the continued development of our capital city by processing around 5000 building warrants a year. We aim to provide a seamless development consent process with close collaboration between professionals in different service areas. You can be part of this exciting journey, helping to facilitate these opportunities whilst ensuring construction works within the city are designed and built to meet safety standards, further sustainable development and ensure the safety of people in and around buildings.

You would be responsible for verifying structural aspects of building warrant applications for compliance with the Scottish Building Regulations and mandatory standards. Further, you may be required to carry out inspections of building works and of dangerous/defective buildings offering structural advice to customers and assisting Building Standards Surveyors. You will have the ability to work as part of a team or on your own initiative to manage a diverse caseload. You will have good communication, IT and organisational skills and be committed to a high standard of customer care. With these requirements and responsibilities, comes a range of the most interesting Building Standards surveying work in Scotland.

We are working in a hybrid way at this time and those who are able to work from home will be permitted to do so, as and when necessary. Our modern open-plan offices are in Edinburgh City Centre, 5 minutes’ walk from Waverley Station.

The Opportunity:

The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies is seeking a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) based within the Hospital for Small Animals on Easter Bush Campus, just outside Edinburgh. The successful applicant will join our established ECC team, and will share supervision of our combined emergency receiving and ICU services within our well-equipped multidisciplinary teaching hospital.

Responsibilities will include clinical, teaching and research with a clinical focus. An important aspect of the role is participation in the delivery and assessment of the BVM&S undergraduate teaching programme. The R(D)SVS also has a strong tradition of research, with excellent collaborative links both on campus and within the wider university providing many exciting opportunities for both clinical and basic science research.

Your skills and attributes for success:

A degree in veterinary medicine and, at the time of appointment, be registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
Applicants with either an ACVECC or ECVECC diploma are preferred, but those who have recently completed an approved residency and are board eligible in Emergency and Critical Care will also be considered (for Lecturer).

The Opportunity:

Edinburgh College of Art (ECA) is seeking two experienced administrators to work as part of the Postgraduate Research Team within Student and Academic Support Services (SASS) – one role being on a permanent basis and the other on a 12-month fixed term contract.

Underpinning a great student and staff experience, the Senior Postgraduate Research Administrator(s) will contribute through a range of essential administrative tasks and processes, the administration of ECA’s postgraduate research programmes, including managing applications to study, arranging assessment, and supporting scholarship work. These roles are also key in supporting academic colleagues who have responsibility for research student supervision and training.

One post is on an open-ended basis, with the other being on a fixed term for 12 months to allow for support as the team restructures. We are seeking those who combine great administrative skills including attention to detail and ability to juggle competing demands, with a genuine interest in contributing to the development of our team as review and adapt the ways in which we work.

Accountable to the Team Leader, the post holder will: ensure a high quality of practice is provided and maintained, appropriate services are delivered to meet service users’ needs within the Council’s statutory obligations, policies and procedures; provide professional support, supervision and leadership to a group of staff, whilst maintaining a direct involvement in social work practice; represent and promote the Council at multi-agency meetings, with local community groups and be a department representative at a range of information sharing and risk planning forums.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be working within a multi-disciplinary environment with the opportunity to be part of a highly regarded environmental planning team. You’ll partner with the wider RPS Health Impact Assessment, sustainability, climate change, planning, landscape, ecology, heritage and transport teams. You’ll manage a range of EIA projects within a consultancy environment and provide advice on EIA Regulations and screen, scope and produce Environmental Statements.

A typical week could include:

· Working as a primary point of client contact on some of the leading EIA projects in the UK

· Drafting reports, including project descriptions, non-technical summaries, scoping report and bid documents

· Sign off of ES documents in preparation for client or legal review

· Provision of advice regarding all aspects of EIA, including client and legal queries

· Working with our digital and design teams to take a leading in further developing our capacity in digital EIA

· Working to mentor junior or new members of the team

· Preparation of bid/tender documents with our bid team, as required

· Opportunities to work across a range of sectors

Who we’re looking for

You’ll have excellent report writing and review skills, be able to work collaboratively and have the ability to work with clients legal teams and other consultancies. A good eye for detail is essential as is strong problem-solving skills, helping to address client concerns and ‘make complex easy’. We’d like you to have:

· A first degree in a relevant environmental subject and ideally an MSc in a relevant topic e.g. Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Management or similar

· Experience of working in a consultancy environment, including experience of managing EIA projects (essential)

· Detailed knowledge of the EIA process (essential)

· An eye for detail (essential)

· Previous digital EIA experience or relevant skills (desirable)

· Experience in working on NSIPs/DCO projects (desirable)

· Experience in the energy sector or on infrastructure projects (desirable)

There will be some travel so a full UK driving license is required.
