We are currently seeking to employ a committed and motivated Student Safety Engagement Assistant. As a key member of the Student Services team, you will act as an ambassador for Craven College providing a highly visible presence and service around campus to all our students, staff and visitors. You will work closely with the Head of Student Services and Student Service Manager to foster and promote a culture of positive student engagement and experience. The ideal candidate will carry out routine patrols and monitoring of the campuses responding to different types of issues and/or emergencies; investigation and incident report writing as required to the Head of Student Services or by the Facilities Manager.

Essential requirements:

• Good literacy and excellent proven verbal communication skills
• Previous experience of working in the security industry/environment
• Be computer literate and show the ability to use Microsoft Word and Outlook Express for email
• Self-motivation and ability to use own initiative and work without supervision as well as proven ability to work as part of a diverse team
• To demonstrate tact and diplomacy to deal with people, including senior staff, students and visitors, in all circumstances, including emergencies
• Ability to manage potentially volatile situations and deal with conflict effectively
• Ability to receive, interpret and act on instructions quickly and effectively
• Demonstrable skills in observation and the ability to appraise situations quickly and effectively
• Responsible attitude towards health and safety at work
• Awareness of Equality and Diversity issues and the ability to work with sensitivity to the needs of a multi-cultural environment

Key role objectives

Sitting within the Financial Inclusion Team the post holder will provide administrative support to both the Projects and Interventions Officer, and the wider Financial Inclusion Team. The post holder will primarily be working on the new Energy Crisis Support Scheme and key areas of responsibility will include:

• Checking applications to ensure that the required documents have been received to enable processing, and liaising with applicants where further information is required
• Supporting applicants with additional needs (i.e., language barriers/learning disabilities) to make applications into the scheme
• The use of IT including case management systems and spreadsheets to accurately record information and prepare statistical information as and when required
• To answer customer enquiries regarding the eligibility criteria, the application process and any other enquiries relating to the Energy Crisis Support Scheme in a timely and efficient manner
• To provide a high-quality support service to the Energy Crisis Support Scheme Team with a focus on the delivering excellent customer service to our tenants and residents.

Excellent interpersonal skills
Happy to undergo an enhanced DBS check
Confident and friendly character
