We are looking to recruit a Pupil Support Assistant (Enhanced Support Provision). This is a part-time (27.5 hour), sessional, permanent position. Experience of working with young people with complex learning, social and emotional needs and additional support needs is desirable.

We are looking for a PSA to join the team at Clovenstone Primary School in our Enhanced Support Base.

The ESB is a specialised provision which is attended by children who have a diagnosis of autism and other complex needs. We have two classes with eight pupils in each, supported by two class teachers, two EYPs and two Pupil Support Assistants. The successful candidate will work in both classes. We are looking for someone with significant experience of supporting children with additional support needs as well as someone who is enthusiastic, reliable, self-motivated, understanding and has patience to support our young people in a nurturing learning environment. The post will involve building relationships of trust with children and their families. This role will be part of enhanced staffing within the Wellbeing Hub. The Hub is led by a Curriculum Leader. You will work alongside them and a Pupil Support Officer to support children with social and emotional needs to thrive in their mainstream school.

All successful candidates will be given intensive training to help them carry out their role.

Candidates may be asked to provide basic first aid and administer medication as appropriate. A suitable qualification in first aid or experience in this area along with a willingness to undertake any necessary training is desirable.

The post is to provide one to one support for pupils and will continue for the duration that the pupils are in Nursery.

The hours are 18 hours per week, Tuesdays to Thursdays 10.00am to 3.00pm and Fridays 9.00am to 12.00pm.

Canal View Primary School serves the community of Wester Hailes. The school has a broad social mix and the catchment contains areas of multiple deprivation with 77% of our learners living in SIMD 1 and 2. The school receives both Positive Action funding and Pupil Equity funding. Canal View Primary School is organised into fourteen classes from P1-7 and has a Nursery offering 64 full-time places.

The school is led by a management team of a Head Teacher, Depute Head Teacher, 2 Principal Teachers and a Business Manager. There are eighteen class teachers and three part-time Support for Learning Teachers ably supported by a School Administrator, Pupil Support Assistants, two Pupil Support Officers and a Facilities Technician.
