• Build strong relationships with students and support their academic, social, and personal development.

I sometimes require support accessing resources such as books, articles, and websites, or finding relevant information quickly.

The post holder will be an integrated member of the Newham Early Intervention Service, and will directly provide psychologically-informed support sessions to the carers of NEIS service users. This work will be under the supervision of a qualified clinical/counselling psychologist based within the team who will retain clinical responsibility for the clinical work carried out. When a family member experiences a psychotic episode often the need for carers to absorb and utilize new information regarding psychosis and related services at a time of emotional upheaval can be very challenging. Family members, partners and friends can feel unsure about the best way to support a loved one. By providing time and space to listen to any concerns, and by providing information and guidance wherever possible, some of the related stresses may be better managed. This then maximizes the carers supportive resources, and also improves the recovery experience of the service user. This post was created to directly address the needs of NEIS carers. The primary task of the role will be: to engage NEIS carers; to encourage them to share their personal journey; to explore their appraisal and emotional reaction to these events; to assess their support needs; and to provide psycho-education and sources of information and support. This work will very often require the use of interpreters. They will have a foundational understanding of psychosis, and of carer-focussed support programmes. They will work alongside the qualified psychologists within the team to develop and support the wider MDTs relationship to this new intervention. This may involve providing consultation, teaching and training to the team. They will provide continuity of care by establishing good working relationships with the community services including the wider secondary care psychological service. The post holder will be required to identify the carers of NEIS clients, and to manage a database of this information. They will also log offers and uptake of the intervention. To undertake work around the health transition process to adult services for children with brain tumours. This will include running focus groups, collecting data, interviewing service users, collating the data and assisting in the writing up and dissemination of these findings. 2. To undertake research in the area of the process of transition for brain tumour patients and their families. 3. To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a childrens and families difficulties, under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, in both community and in-patient/outpatient settings. 4. To assist in the coordination and running of therapeutic groups and focus groups. 5. To assist in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings where care takes place. 6. To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings. 7. To have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and will be able to communicate effectively within the MDT, complex professional systems and wider teams.
