We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistant. The successful candidate will provide learning, care and support for pupils with special educational needs to help work towards the outcomes on their education and health care plan (EHCP). This will involve working with the teacher to plan and deliver activities and supporting the pupil with routines, transitions and behaviour management.
It would be beneficial if the candidate has previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant. The candidate should be able to build positive relationships with pupils, promote high self-esteem, independence, and social inclusion. They will demonstrate and encourage high standards of behaviour and support pupils with their social, emotional, and mental health needs.

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and engaging teaching assistant to work within the SEND department here at Heckmondwike Grammar School. Working within the SEND Code of Practice to promote full inclusion within our school.

We are seeking someone to support the teaching, learning and pastoral care needs for students with a range of special educational needs and disabilities to ensure a positive learning environment for our students.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

• To support students with SEND as required

Job Vacancy

Evidence of basic literacy and numeracy at Standard Grade General level or SVQ2 in Early Years Care and Education, or National Certificate unit in Childcare & Education, or equivalent competency, to enable the jobholder to communicate effectively with staff and pupils, and provide sensitive support.

The jobholder must be familiar with child development and able to respond to the needs of individual pupils. Jobholders should have previous experience of working in this field of work.

To be fully competent in the role jobholders will be required to undertake addition training courses eg first aid, calm techniques etc.
