The difference you will make as a Support Assistant

You will be key in the day-to-day running of one of our supported housing services. We don’t run care homes, so there’s no need to provide personal care. The priority in your role includes the safety and wellbeing of everyone in our accommodation, including our customers.

Working with people who have a range of needs, you could be doing any number of things. From supporting customers in conversations with calls from their GP, Social Services, or Benefits teams – to dealing with the emergency services including the Police and Ambulance, when the need arises.

The Medical Support Assistant in Patient Care Services at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare system in North Little Rock, Arkansas is assigned to Health and Wellness System of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center and may assist other inpatient/outpatient areas as needed.

The primary duties of the Medical Support Assistant (Advanced) may include but are not limited to:

• Directing and accomplishing a wide span of team Administration procedures
• Ensuring medical records are reviewed and coded prior to transfer out to another VA facility
• Entering appropriate codes from completed Encounter forms

The psychiatry physician assistant (PA) is responsible for the care and administrative needs of mental health patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. The Psychiatry PA will be responsible for the primary medical needs of inpatients and outpatients in the mental health clinics and wards. Ordering appropriate laboratory tests, imaging studies, EKGs (electrocardiograms), and similar noninvasive tests. Initiating and expediting consultation requests and scheduling special tests and studies. Drawing blood specimens for testing, and obtaining other body fluid samples requiring comparably low levels of invasiveness. Making rounds for inpatients, and holding scheduled appointments for outpatients to observe and record patients' medical progress, and notifying the collaborating physician of significant changes in patients' condition. Mixing and starting IV (intravenous) solutions and administering IV medications. Dispensing medications (including injections).
