HRUC (Harrow, Richmond and Uxbridge Colleges) is a merged Further Education College Group in West London. We have five campuses at Harrow on the Hill, Harrow Weald, Hayes, Uxbridge and Richmond upon Thames.
We are seeking to appoint an Internal Auditor to add value and improve our operations by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.
Key responsibilities of the role will include:
• Performing and controlling the full audit cycle including risk management and control management over operations’ effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations
• Determining the internal audit scope and developing annual plans
• Obtaining, analysing and evaluating accounting documentation and information
• Preparing and presenting reports that reflect audit results
• Identifying loopholes and recommending risk aversion measures and cost savings
We are seeking an individual who can demonstrate the following:
• Previous internal audit experience, from scoping through to finish, with sound knowledge of audit principles
• Up to date knowledge of internal l audit standards and good practice, including the public sector internal audit standard
• Ability to find practical and innovative solutions to a range of financial, governance and risk areas
• Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels

This position will be a joint role with the AMU and Diabetes & Endocrinology departments.
The Diabetes and Endocrine Department provides coordination of care or direct care for patients with diabetes and endocrine conditions. It has a forward-thinking approach to service provision and works in collaboration with community teams and secondary care partners in NW London.
This joint post has been created to provide direct clinical support to the expanding endocrine service and there is opportunity to work with colleagues in developing the postholder’s speciality interest. The post holder will, together with his or her consultant colleagues and other health care professionals in the Directorate, provide an effective and comprehensive service for Diabetes and Endocrinology and support continuing service developments.


The postholder will also be a part of a new acute medical team which we are developing to re-envigorate and develop our acute medical and same day emergency care services. The postholder will be key to developing and leading changes to our services which we are developing to better support patient flow and education and training opportunities.

This post consists of 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), annualized as 8 Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 2 Supporting Clinical Activities (SPA) shared 50% Diabetes and Endocrinology and 50% Acute Internal Medicine.
The successful applicant will be a committed clinician with a track record of excellent clinical service delivery, quality improvement, teaching and training. It is a requirement of the post that every doctor takes part in annual job planning and annual appraisal as part of the revalidation of cycle.

The post holder will be part of a growing leadership team which we are developing to reinvigorate our Acute Medicine and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) services. The post holder will join a supportive team which has a strong culture of teaching and training, additionally the Hillingdon AMU has just come top in the country for junior doctor feedback in the latest GMC Survey, which is reflective of the progressive style the team are creating.

This post will work across Acute Internal Medicine, with a focus on the Acute Medical Unit (AMU), SDEC and links with our emergency medicine department.
The post is advertised as 10 PAs. There is a possibility of additional PAs in discussion with the Divisional Director for Unplanned Care. Further subspecialty interests including specialty clinics and service development will also be welcomed and accommodated within the job plan, in addition to the Medical Specialties mentioned above.

There will also be an opportunity for the desirable candidate to be supported with a CESR/ portfolio pathway application towards the specialist register, this can be discussed further during the interview.


The post-holder will be responsible to the Divisional Director of Unplanned Care at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a 10 PA post, 8.5 PA DCC, 1.5 SPA. SPA may include clinical and educational supervision, audit, personal CPD and mandatory training. Personal CPD must be included as part of annual appraisal which is mandatory and required for the revalidation process.

The post holder will be key to developing and leading changes to our services which we are developing to better support inpatient care, patient flow, early supportive discharges, with education and training. There will also be opportunities to be involved with audit and governance and development of SDEC pathways. All of these changes will be working towards our new hospital rebuild at Hillingdon Hospital.

Post holders will participate in the medical on call (acute take) rota (approximately 1:18).

The post holder will, together with his or her consultant colleagues and other health care professionals in the Directorate, will provide an effective and comprehensive service in developing the medical SDEC/ ambulatory care services on the ambulatory medical unit, working closely with ED and surgical colleagues. The post holder will work closely with colleagues to support quality improvement and service development in the department.
